Position Summary
The Academic Support Specialist will assist students in the areas of reading and math facilitate/.teach the program curriculum and classroom activities in the Grade K -2 class for the EDGE After-School Program on Monday thru Friday when school is in session.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
· Responsible for teaching, supervising, and interacting with children in daily curriculum, activities, and homework help. Additional elements include but are not beare not limited to:
† Picking up the children at MPE and accompanying the children out to dismissal and transportation.
† Support will include working with students individually, in small groups, and within the classroom.
† Following and executing the Daily Schedules for story, crafts, playtime, homework help
† Ensuring to incorporate age-appropriate activities for assigned grade level class.
† Supervise and instruct classroom aides and volunteers.
· Offer to the Operations ManagerEducational Coordinator and or EDGE For Tomorrow (EFT)Executive Director suggestions and ideas that may be deemed relevant to future academic programs for EFT.for the EDGE After-School Program.
· Attend staff in-service workshops and professional development training opportunities.
· Attend Parent Open Houses, fundraising efforts, and special programs that serve and benefit families in the program.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
· High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelors Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
· Three to five years of experience in the field.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Basic understanding of classroom management and systems such as recordkeeping and filing.
· Ability to work independently.
