Job Description:

The Chief of Staff (CoS) will work closely with the CEO, serving as a trusted advisor and a strategic partner. It is a fast-track role, to become an Executive in the company. The Chief of Staff operates as a force multiplier, enabling the Executive team to focus on high-level strategic initiatives by taking on a range of operational and tactical responsibilities. The CoS embodies versatility, adaptability, and exceptional problem-solving skills.

What your impact will be:

  • Strategic Planning: A CoS plays a pivotal role in strategic planning, working alongside the CEO and ELT members to refine and execute the company's vision, mission, culture and objectives (The "Framing Memo"). They gather and analyze data, assess market trends, and provide insights and recommendations that inform key decision-making processes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: As the nexus of communication, a CoS fosters collaboration across departments. They work closely with the ELT members, facilitating effective meeting Cadence and Rhythm of Business Meetings, aligning NSOs, and breaking down silos. This collaborative approach enhances efficiency, reduces duplication of efforts, and promotes a cohesive organizational culture.
  • Project Management: With their ability to manage complex projects and drive execution, CoSs oversee critical initiatives and strategic projects within the company. They define project objectives, establish timelines, coordinate stakeholders, and monitor progress to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Change Management: In the dynamic tech industry, change is constant. A CoS facilitates organizational change, together with the CHRO, by driving initiatives such as mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, or cultural transformations. They support Executives through periods of change, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption to business operations.
  • CEO Support and clearing house: By partnering closely with the CEO, a CoS acts as an extension of their capabilities. They provide strategic guidance and act as a sounding board for ideas. This support enables the CEO to focus on critical strategic decisions and external engagements.
  • Enhanced Data/ Fact driven Decision Making: A CoS brings valuable insights and analysis to the leadership team, enabling data-driven decision making. By distilling complex information and presenting it in a concise and actionable manner, they help leaders make informed choices with greater speed and accuracy. They are responsible for providing the same visibility to board, XLT and Staff All hands.
  • ELT Voice in the Industry: Cultivating a strong voice in the industry and establishing ELT as respected and influential CxO. Collaborate with the CMO - through Thought Leadership, Visibility and Networking, transparent communication, Community Engagement and Media presence.

  • Business Acumen: Understanding the organization's industry, market dynamics, financial metrics, and competitive landscape is essential for the CoS to provide strategic advice and support. It enables the CoS to contribute meaningfully to discussions on revenue generation, cost management, resource allocation, and overall business strategy.
  • Strategic Thinking: A CoS should have a strategic mindset, capable of understanding the organization's goals and developing plans to achieve them.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: This role often involves addressing challenges and finding solutions quickly and efficiently, so strong problem-solving skills are highly valued.
  • Collaboration and Relationship-Building: Building and maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally, is critical for success in the CoS role.
  • Project Management Skills: The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines is essential for keeping operations running smoothly.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: The CoS must be adaptable and able to thrive in a fast paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Political Savvy: Understanding the organization's political landscape and being able to navigate it effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are crucial for conveying information clearly and effectively to various stakeholders.
  • Ethical Standards: Upholding high ethical standards and integrity is crucial for maintaining trust and credibility in the CoS position.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a leadership or management role, particularly within the specific industry or field, can be advantageous
