Ector County ISD is Hiring a HIGH SCHOOL SPED 18+ FACILITATOR/TEACHER Near Odessa, TX

Job Title: Sped Transition to the Future Facilitator

Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Reports to: Building Principal

Pay Grade: Teacher Pay Scale

Dept. /School: Assigned Campus

Days: 187 

Primary Purpose:

The Transition to the Future Teacher will provide comprehensive and specialized instruction to students in the Transition to the Future Program ages 18-22 that have developmental and physical disabilities.

Instruction will be provided across all environments including the classroom, community, building, job site, etc. The primary goal of the Transition to the Future Program Facilitator is to provide specialized instruction in an individualized program for students to have the best post-secondary opportunities.

Education/Certification:

Sped Certification

Generalist Certification

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject/level assigned

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of subjects assigned

General knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of Special Education Law

Knowledge/Experience working with students with disabilities

Knowledge of TTESS Appraisal System

Experience:

Student teaching or approved internship, preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Participate in transdisciplinary team meetings, multidisciplinary staffings, annual reviews, parent conferences, and faculty meetings.
  1. Communicate frequently with parents. Elicit parent input in educational planning and implementation.
  1. Collaborate with team members to develop and modify goals/objectives on student IEPs. Ensure that goals/objectives are outcome-based, longitudinal and measurable.
  1. Implement student IEPs utilizing teaching methods, materials, and adaptations appropriate to meet individual student needs.
  1. Utilize non-aversive behavior management techniques. Provide positive programming.
  2. Ensure consistent management across team members.
  1. Design, revise, and maintain a class schedule consisting of activities developed from student IEP goals/objectives. Provide instruction in integrated environments.
  1. Design, revise, and maintain instructional programs developed from student IEP goals/objectives. Facilitate cooperative learning.
  1. Provide opportunities to interact with peers to form friendships and support networks.
  2. Implement programs and procedures recommended by transdisciplinary team members.
  1. Demonstrate team leadership skills for a group of paraprofessionals.
  2. Demonstrate a consistent method of assessing student growth via the use of clear criteria and is congruent with student goals. Collect and summarize performancedate on an ongoing basis.
  1. Collaborate with team members to report on student progress by the established timelines.
  1. Participate in Transition Planning meeting and implement movement to adult services for exiting students.
  1. Obtain driving requirements for ECISD Transportation as required within three months of employment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise assigned teacher aide(s)

Serve as mentor to student teachers

Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing

Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other equipment

Assist with lifting/transferring/toileting of students per IEP
