Ector County Independent School District is Hiring a MATH COORDINATOR - ELEM Near Odessa, TX

Job Title: Coordinator Math (PK-5) Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Reports to: Executive Director Curriculum & Instruction Pay Grade: 5

Dept. /School: Curriculum & Instruction Days: 227


Primary Purpose:
To promote the quality of mathematics curriculum and instruction in the Ector County Independent School District.


Qualifications:


Education/Certification:

  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate
  • Supervision or Mid-management certificate preferred


Special Knowledge Skills:

  • Training in curriculum development
  • Advanced training in specific subject-matter
  • Ability to work well with a diverse population
  • Willingness to attend additional curriculum training as needed
  • Understand the Data Driven Instruction (DDI) process
  • Understand the process and purpose of Professional Learning Communities (PLC)


Experience:

  • Five (5) years’ experience in classroom teaching experience in secondary mathematics
  • Experience in planning and conducting staff development sessions
  • Evidence of successful classroom experience through data reports and references


Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist teachers and principals with the improvement of mathematics instruction through such activities as presentation of model lessons, design and distribution of instructional materials, and assistance with planning for instruction.
  • Work with the staff in the implementation and review of mathematics instructional programs.
  • Manage the writing, review and implementation of major district exams and assessments for mathematics.
  • Coordinate the review and selection of mathematics textbooks and curricular materials.
  • Plan and/or coordinate additional instructional student activities such as special programs, projects and competition/exhibits at the campus and district level.
  • Prepare and present program review to staff as needed.
  • Plan and conduct regular meetings for curriculum review and revision and instructional improvement with appropriate teacher and staff groups.
  • Present and interpret to principals and teachers any changes in mathematics instructional programs-goals, contents, methods, procedures, and materials.
  • Spends a minimum of 70% of district instructional days on campuses and in direct contact with teachers.
  • School/Organization Improvement-assist with or initiate the design or revision of mathematics instructional programs to further instructional goals.
  • Exercise leadership in the development and revision of district Instructional Focus and Alignment guides and other public documents and insure they are current.
  • Design, coordinate, and present in-service activities for mathematics teachers and staff including new teacher orientation.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to encourage the integration of disciplines wherever appropriate.
  • Personnel Management-provide leadership in the ongoing provision of information and training for teachers about the ECISD appraisal process (its components and procedures) as it relates to the district mathematics program.
  • Assist in the teacher appraisal process as needed, complying with the TEA/ECISD appraisal process requirements in a timely and effective manner.
  • Provide in-service and assistance for teacher improvement in collaboration and cooperation with other coordinators and principals.
  • Assist in the recruitment and selection interview process for mathematics teachers as requested by the division of human resources services or campus administrators.
  • Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management-prepare and submit mathematics program budget recommendations to the executive director or instructional services, and exercise responsible management of the budget.
  • Provide information about mathematics instructional needs for use by campus administrators in the preparation of campus budgets.
  • Comply with state, district, and campus policies, and with operating budgetary procedures and requirements.
  • Oversees the daily operations of the Mathematics Materials Center, prepares and monitors the budget, directs ordering of materials and staff operations.
  • Confer with directors and principals on planning for facility utilization and/or expansion in subject matter programs.
  • Secure appropriate meeting sites for all in-service and staff development activities, communicating in a timely and efficient manner with primary site managers concerning specific needs.
  • Assist public groups in securing facilities for presentations to student and teacher groups. acts as a liaison between building principals, ECISD repair services, purchasing and manufacturers in maintaining mathematics equipment required for the instructional program.
  • Student Management-plan and/or assist those hosting student mathematics contests/activities sponsored by the school district.
  • Facilitate elementary and secondary student participation in local, regional and national mathematics competitions.
  • School/Community Relations-provide accurate information to school and community groups regarding the district's instructional program.
  • Plan for broad-based teacher and community involvement in curriculum development projects.
  • Professional Growth and Development-plan for and engage in professional development which updates knowledge of contents, programs, methods, and state/federal guidelines.
