Job Summary:

The Superintendent will have responsibility for multiple jobs at any given time and managing multiple foremen. Your primary duty is supporting our crews. Your crews will always be supplied with all job details and information, allowing them to operate efficiently and with high performance. Your crew will always operate, uninhibited from lack of organization, direction, information or materials.

Lead and organize crews for optimum performance and production, meeting job budgets and client schedules. Interface with management, customers, and crews to create exceptional working relationships. Manage client expectations to ensure we always over deliver. Create a safe, cohesive environment all team members own and perpetuate. Keep Easton Companies on the cutting edge with all best practices, technological advances, crew efficiency and overall performance.

Big Sky Waterproofing will be the leader in customer service, quality, production, efficiency, and methods. The Superintendent will perform a key role in project planning, identification of resources needed, managing the budget, tracking team expenses and minimizing exposure and risk in the project. Identify the elements of a project that will likely give rise to disputes/effect a deadline by effectively communicating with project teams and be responsible for Quality Assurance.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED (Required)
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in waterproofing.
  • Ability to read and interpret all construction documents, drawings and regulations
  • Technical expertise in the fields of below grade waterproofing, air barriers, thermal insulation, joint sealants and coatings.
  • Computer literate
  • Valid Driver’s License (Required)

Working Conditions

  • When in the Office, a desk and office will be provided along with a break room and bathroom.
  • The dress and presentation should be representative of the position, business casual, jeans acceptable.
  • Easton Companies business hours are 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM. As a Manager you need to be on premise ready to work no later than 8:00 AM unless you receive prior Manager Approval.
  • This position involves work at construction sites where duties will be performed both indoors and outdoors. Cold and hot conditions will be experienced, including inclement weather.
  • Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.
  • Hours are often 10 or more hours a day, 50 or more hours a week, as work demands. Work hours can be seasonal.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • The Superintendent is the SPOC (single point of contact) for the site readiness prior to the mobilization of the Foreman and the Crew.
  • Be 2 weeks ahead of the Foreman relative to the site conditions and project readiness.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager and discuss the details of the site prior to the Foreman and Crew arrival.
  • Own the SOP process with the team.
  • Perform the duties of an Operator as needed, including operation of equipment for all tasks in all situations.
  • Professionalism: Approaches others in a tactful manner; Reacts well under pressure; Treats others with respect and considerations regardless of their position; Accepts responsibility for own actions; Follows through on commitments.
  • Owner/Customer Satisfaction: Providing customers with a quality product per customers desires, specs and local regulations and requirements
  • Communication: First point of contact for all field questions from crew regarding jobs. Be always available to crews, customers, and team members for clarification of job details. Make recommendations/advise the Customer, Project Manager and Operations Manager of information pertinent to job status, changes, problems or potential problems and work progress. Maintain regular and open communication with Project Manager and attend weekly debriefing.
  • Crew Support: Ensure crews are present and in correct jobs. Provide on-site assistance. Assist with equipment and materials being set up at job sites; assist on-site as needed.
  • Materials: Manage job material supply/delivery to sites, reduce waste on jobs, and procure occasional supplies.
  • Office Support/ Paperwork: Manage and turn in paperwork in a timely manner; job worksheets to assist in billing, crew performance reviews, staffing recommendations, crew time cards, policy acknowledgements, DVIRs, etc. Assist Project Manager with submission of city/county paperwork.
  • Job Documentation: Assist with Procore documentation to ensure accurate and timely submission; including Daily Log, T&M, Change Order, Cold Weather forms, etc. Document and track change orders and communicate changes with the Customer, Project Manager and Operations Manager.
  • Equipment: Be proficient & SAFE with all equipment. Ensure all vehicle DVIR’s are completed and turned in daily. Assist Project Manager with coordination and completion of proper inspections, repairs, and maintenance. Review the condition of all equipment and ensure equipment hours are provided to the Shop Coordinator.
  • Safety: Assure safety of crew at all times and adhere to the U.S. Occupational Safety Health Administration’s (OSHA) construction regulations (i.e. mandatory use of trench boxes). Follow safety procedures to always ensure safety of self and crew. Personal and crew use of personal protective equipment (PPE) (i.e. hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, high visibility vest, proper footwear, and gloves) and proper attire while excavating. Ensure all crews are performing daily safety meetings and completion Job Safety Analysis.
  • Training: Empower your crews with proper training and project preparation to allow them to work efficiently and independently. Identify areas for improvement and work with Human Resources to develop training plan.
  • Coordination: Coordinate schedules, issues, etc. with the Customer, Project Manager, Operations Manager, and leadership/members of Easton Companies.
  • Scheduling: Plan each day’s jobs and resources the day before and communicate plan effectively to crew(s), Customer, Project Manager, Operations Manager, and leadership/members of Easton Companies. Scheduling to include labor assignments, and coordination with builder and layout. Stay on top of the schedule and adjust accordingly as early as possible. Be flexible and roll with changes as required.
  • Plan Review/Job Preparation/Site Safety: Conduct internal pre-construction meetings at the start of every new project; review and study plans with operators prior to going to job site. Inspect job site prior to mobilization to ensure proper safety measures are prepped and planned for (i.e. identifying power lines or any other potential hazards and ensuring locates have been completed). Confirm SWPP Maintenance and that locates are visible/valid.
  • Leadership: Your attitude is reflected in your crew; a winning attitude always wins. Always maintain a respectful, positive, and empowering attitude.
  • Quality Assurance & Quality Control: Conduct daily site visits for site preparation and quality control. Customer satisfaction will create loyal clients. Fulfilment for you and your crews comes from quality work and effective communication.
  • Problem Solving: You will have the opportunity to solve problems daily, technical, crew, logistical, customer and many others. Plan to the best of your ability and anticipate problems before they arise.
  • Other: Periodic or occasional tasks or responsibilities as assigned or required may include, but are not limited to:
    • Assisting in safety meetings, safety review and safety training
    • Assist in estimates, planning and scheduling for the company
    • Assess crew training needs & plan training opportunities.
