Eastern Radiologists is Hiring a Certified Medical Assistant Near Greenville, NC
Job Summary:
Full time Certified Medical Assistant position for our Breast Imaging Center. This position requires organization, good patient contact skills, and an ability to work well with the physicians.
Major Job Functions:
- Schedule biopsy, wire loc, and MRI biopsy patients as needed. Complete all paperwork for upcoming biopsy, wire loc, and MRI biopsy patients.
- Push images for all biopsy, wire loc, and MRI biopsy patients coming in next day.
- Save images to PACS on all CD’s that are received for patients coming in for procedures.
- Call for orders/referrals needed for upcoming procedure appointments.
- Obtain all outside images for patients with upcoming procedure appointments.
- Call patients with details and directions for upcoming biopsy/CESM prior to appointments.
- Call biopsy patients the day after procedure to check on them and document in MRS.
- Wrap 4x4’s, clean and wrap all Petri dishes and clamps and send for autoclave.
- Prepare post biopsy instruction packets.
- Transport all specimens and log sheets to pick up area and call for specimen pick up.
- Clean biopsy holding area daily.
- Bring biopsy patients back to get undressed when needed. Assisted with consenting patients when necessary.
- Clean all biopsy rooms when procedures are completed. (disposing of needles, soiled materials). Set up biopsy room for next patient.
- Stock biopsy rooms at least weekly or as needed and rotate stock.
- Complete patient’s history and procedures as needed in MRS.
- Assist with care of any biopsy patients that return with complications.
- Assist radiologist with biopsy and cyst aspirations as needed.
- Assist biopsy tech with showing post biopsy images, holding pressure, letting patients go, logging injections, filling out biopsy log sheet, or other jobs as needed.
- Draw up saline for procedures and/or lidocaine.
- Stock new supplies and check off order as they arrive.
- Remove full sharps containers, wrap for pick up, and place in biohazard room.
- Put notes in MRS for all phone correspondence between the radiologists and patients.
- Check and sign off on specimens.
- Schedule CESM studies and prepare paperwork for appointment as well as going over questionnaires prior to patient’s appointment.
- Scan all paperwork and orders for biopsy, wire loc, and MRI biopsy patients.
- Post biopsy wound dressing.
- Prepare biopsy trays.
- Obtain pathology reports and review with radiologists.
- Starting IV’s for CESM (if phlebotomy certified) and assist technologist during procedure.
- Perform pregnancy tests.
Specifications:
Education: Certified Medical Assistant or equivalent
Experience: Clerical and clinical experience preferred
Certification/License/Registration: Valid Medical Assistant Certification. CPR certification required. Phlebotomy certification preferred.
