ECU Patholgy Medical Center is part of the physician group located in Greenville, NC.

Position Summary

As a Pathologists' Assistant, you will work under the general supervision of a pathologist. Will independently perform or assist in accessioning, dissection, and histologic sampling of a full range of surgical specimens; and/or perform or assists with evisceration, dissection, and narrative description for hospital and forensic autopsy cases. In this role, you are required to have the knowledge and ability of the following:

• Knowledge of surgical pathology procedures, protocols, and techniques

• Knowledge of autopsy procedures, protocols, and techniques

• Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements and standards

• Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards

• Ability to perform frozen sections

• Ability to perform evisceration and other autopsy dissection techniques

• Knowledge of procedures, regulations, and standards for the acquisition of human tissue specimens for research

• Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and/or students in the incumbent's area of expertise

• Knowledge of quality standards and techniques for pathology specimen photographs

• Knowledge of biological specimen preservation, storage and disposition techniques

• Knowledge of chemical reagents and equipment used in pathology

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in scientific or medicine-related field

• Successful completion of an accredited Pathologist Assistant program

Other Information

• 40 hours a week

• Monday - Friday (8 am - 5 pm)
