Patient Access Services Manager - Cancer Center and Pre-Services

Stony Brook Southampton Hospital's Patient Access Services in a hospital setting encompasses many different roles and responsibilities. It is one of the most important and concentrated areas in healthcare. We are responsible for the delivery of the critical components of the revenue cycle, as well as keeping the hospital compliant with the many regulatory agencies, maintaining patient safety through correct patient identification practices and providing extraordinary customer service skills in situations that are often difficult.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

The Patient Access Services Manager is a change agent who supports the Assistant Director in leading the department to transform the Revenue Cycle into organizational effectiveness, improvement, and development. Responsible for the overall day-to-day administrative operations and delivery of the critical components of the front-end business. Highly focused position to ensure that the Patient Access Services staff possesses a deep knowledge of what constitutes high-quality service from the perspective of all customers. This position will collaborate with all departments involved in the patient service revenue to meet short-term and long-term strategic goals.

Located in Westhampton at the Phillips Family Cancer Center.

SPECIAL SKILLS / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Science, or Business required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience staff supervision required.
  • Three (3) years of knowledge in Healthcare, Revenue Cycle, and/or Business Office required.
  • Patient Access Services Cancer and Pre-Services experience preferred.
  • Quantitative analytical skills and computer savviness required including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Oversees and coordinates the flow of the overall functions of the Patient Access Services department through service management.
  • Ensures appropriate staffing levels are met based on operational needs.
  • Collaborates with Assistant Director on performance expectations and regulatory and accreditation mandates.
  • Develop, maintain, educate, and train staff members on policies and procedures.
  • Mitigates risk, improves efficiencies and increases department revenue including pre-certification denials and unbilled reports.
  • Works intra-and interdepartmentally to facilitate resolution of registration errors.
  • Develops and maintains positive customer relationships with all patients, colleagues, visitors, vendors, etc.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen*
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.
