Job Title:Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

Reports To:Registered Physical Therapist, Rehab Director or Area Manager or COO or President

Business Unit:Operations

JOB SUMMARY:

The Physical Therapist Assistant will assist in providing quality patient care while maintaining a positive level of interaction with facilities and clients, under the direction of registered therapists.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Registered Physical Therapist, optimize physical ability skills among patients in facilities by:
o Assist in screening of all residents.
o Implement and execute treatments of all residents who could benefit from intervention under an approved plan of treatment.

o Appropriate delivery of treatment to achieve identified objectives. o Appropriate documentation of progress against identified objectives. o Communication of patient status and needs to the patient, the patient’s family, the staff and other professionals.

Under the direction of the Registered Physical Therapist, build a strong rehabilitative care practice within each facility: o Establish and maintain strong relationships with facility staff. o Assist in educating staff, other healthcare professionals, and the general community about therapy services on a consistent basis.
o Attend facility meetings as directed by the supervisor. o Establish and maintain a good working relationship with other healthcare professionals and colleagues in the community.
o Adhere to the requirements of the patient’s Bill of Rights.
  • Continue Professional Development o Expand and enhance clinical techniques through interaction with supervisors and continuing education activities.
o Maintain state license (where appropriate).
  • Administrative Responsibilities o Submit billing and expense documentation in a timely manner. Complete appropriate forms and records as directed. o Assist the Registered Physical Therapist in establishing the goals and plans and then implement the plan for facility utilization.
o Achieve utilization expectations, which may include productivity, efficiency, as well as other measures.
o Follow established protected health information (PHI) policies to prevent privacy or security breaches. If breach identified, report to Management.
COMPETENCIES/REQUIREMENTS:
  • Strong communication, interpersonal ability.
  • Good customer and employee problem resolution skills. Ability to maximize contribution to team.
  • Availability of automobile during working hours with a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance (where appropriate).
  • Ability to travel to multi-sites in assigned territory (where appropriate).
  • Bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, transferring, lifting 40 or more pounds, and assisting adults/children weighing 200 pounds or more with possible use of mechanical devices where applicable.
CREDENTIALS:
  • Holds valid state license (where appropriate).
  • Current physical exam and/or free from communicable disease as required by state law.
