Responsibilities

Job Description Summary

The Consumer Insights Manager will work with key leaders in Marketing to provide insight-driven thought leadership on how to build and grow our brands, enabling them to cut through in a highly competitive environment. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing Insights, this role is responsible for being an integral part of brand planning, leveraging insight, data, and research to support the development of positioning communication, evolution of visual identity systems, and innovation strategy. In this role, s/he is expected to act as a strategic partner to the Brand and R&D Teams in identifying opportunities and creating beloved brands.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop Annual Insight Learning Plans: Discuss consumer understanding needs with marketing and recommend concrete research plans, methodologies, and key decision criteria
  • Market Reporting: Proficient at syndicated data and can develop marketing reports that evaluate business performance, KPIs, initiatives, and can answer key business questions that arise from leaders across the organization
  • Brand/Category Landscape Understanding: Leverage syndicated data, advanced analytics (regression models and forecasting tools), and primary data (surveys, discrete choice) to monitor the brand/category, diagnose business issues, identify information needs, and make actionable recommendations
  • Trend Spotting: Track and understand consumer, category, and food/eating trends to enable brands to stay ahead and drive brand actions in communications and innovation
  • Insight Workshop Facilitation: Organize, prepare and co-facilitate core insight workshops (i.e. positioning, innovation, etc.)
  • Innovation: recommend & execute appropriate research plans to explore and validate innovation from idea to go-to-market strategy, including product sensory
  • Positioning Creative: Provide input and feedback to creative briefs and copy development; recommend & execute appropriate research plans to explore and validate creative
  • Impactful: able to identify the key decisions that will drive growth, advocate for recommendations, and effectively influence
  • Insatiably Curious: An analytical mindset, with a passion for deconstructing and reframing questions, and an ability to distill disparate datasets into clear & meaningful recommendations
  • Inspires through Storytelling: A clear communicator, able to deliver findings in an engaging, fresh, and impactful manner, cutting through the complex to tell a simple, compelling narrative

Qualifications

Qualifications and Competencies

  • BA/BS degree required, advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years insights / strategy / research / analytics / brand / psychology experience preferred
  • Willing to work occasional evenings or weekends as job duties demand.
  • Able to understand, interpret, and gleam insights from data
  • Proficient with syndicated data (IRI, Nielsen, SPINs)
  • Strong passion for the consumer
  • Proven leadership skills including initiative, communication, creativity, bias towards action, and success even in the face of ambiguity
