The Systems Architect at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is a position which is accountable for designing, implementing and maintaining airports IT (Information Technology) systems architecture that is vital in operations and is essential in ensuring efficient services to passengers, meeting their expectations and maintaining a high level of connection between the different airport structures and systems. The main objective is to obtain the support of the internal stakeholders, vendors, and external partners while implementing scalable and reliable IT solutions that are brought in line with the airport's strategic direction, wet set industry standards, and relevant regulations. The Systems Architect has a technical vanguard by providing leadership, direction, and technical knowledge in the design, integration, and efficiency of the systems to meet with airport's digital transformation initiatives and future expansion needs.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop comprehensive IT systems architecture and solutions, including infrastructure, platforms, applications, and data systems, to support airport operations, passenger services, and business functions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, analyze business needs, and define system architecture requirements, ensuring alignment with the airport's strategic objectives and technical standards.
• Evaluate existing IT systems, infrastructure, and technologies, identifying areas for improvement, modernization, and optimization to enhance performance, reliability, and security.
• Define system integration requirements, interfaces, and protocols to ensure seamless interoperability and data exchange between different systems and applications, both internally and with external partners.
• Develop and maintain system design documentation, including architecture diagrams, specifications, standards, and guidelines, to facilitate system implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to IT teams, architects, and engineers, fostering collaboration, innovation, and best practices in system design, development, and implementation.
• Conduct technology assessments, proof of concept studies, and pilot projects to evaluate new technologies, products, and solutions for potential adoption, scalability, and compatibility with existing infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and security best practices in system design and implementation, including but not limited to NIST, ISO, FAA regulations, and cybersecurity standards.
• Collaborate with vendors, service providers, and regulatory agencies to ensure alignment with contractual obligations, service level agreements, and compliance requirements.
• Stay informed about emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in IT systems architecture, attending conferences, workshops, and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills and apply them to airport projects and initiatives.

Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) preferred.
• Experience in IT systems architecture roles, with hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-scale IT solutions in a complex environment.
• Strong knowledge of IT systems architecture principles, methodologies, and best practices, including but not limited to cloud computing, virtualization, containerization, microservices, and service-oriented architecture (SOA).
• Proficiency in system design tools and technologies, such as enterprise architecture tools, UML modeling, and system integration frameworks (e.g., ESB, API gateways).
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation), and container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and architectural designs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Leadership experience, with the ability to lead and mentor technical teams, drive innovation, and influence stakeholders to adopt architectural best practices and standards.
• Knowledge of aviation industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to IT systems architecture and cybersecurity is a plus.
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays and participate in on-call rotations to support airport operations and maintenance.
