We have an opening for a Utility Maintenance Worker at our Dyersburg State campus!

Type of Position:

Full-time, twelve-month Utility/Maintenance Worker position reporting to the Director of Physical Plant. Performs activities related to providing basic maintenance/repair services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs simple checks and procedures to defective equipment and takes corrective actions.

Transports tools and equipment to and from job or work sites.

Minor painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical and roofing repairs.

Repair or replace lamps and ballasts.

Basic HVAC servicing and troubleshooting.

Picks up and delivers equipment for repair; picks up parts for repair.

Maintain and cleans tools, equipment, and work areas.

Performs and documents routine maintenance and safety inspections.

Load and unload trucks in moving furniture, equipment, etc.

Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Basic knowledge in all areas of facilities maintenance.

Ability to learn on-the-job.

Occupational hazards and safety precautions.

Basic computer skills.

Requires the ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic functions.

Operate hand and/or power tools and equipment used in maintenance repair.

Establish and maintain effective working relationship with other employees.

Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Requires six months of maintenance experience, facilities maintenance experience preferred.

Flexibility to work weekends and overtime.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Valid state of Tennessee driver’s license

Minimum starting pay is $28,400 annually ($14.57 per hour). With additional experience pay increase to a maximum of $34,1
