We have an opening for a Specialist, Tennessee Early Childhood Training Alliance at our Dyersburg State campus!

JOB.DESCRIPTION

This position reports to the TECTA Site Coordinator and is responsible for administering the TECTA non-credit coursework and implementing TECTA statewide early childhood initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Review site projections for orientation classes to be scheduled for the following semester according to orientation type.

Locate meeting facilities for classes in projected counties/geographic areas.

Communicate with assigned adjunct instructors for orientation classes.

Participate in the creation of marketing plans to ensure that information about scheduled orientations in spread in a variety of ways throughout the service area.

Work with Data/Support personnel to prepare mailings to all licensed agencies within the TECTA service area at least 4 weeks prior to the first scheduled orientation class.

Create purchase requests for orientation supplies, instructional materials and resources.

Communicate with orientation instructors to monitor attendance and make-up completions, inventory instructional materials, etc.

Prepare list of contact numbers for instructors to have in case they experience an emergency and need back up.

Track application profiles and create rosters for each class.

Prepare and organize instructor materials and resources, including mobile libraries and expendable items.

Prepare student materials.

Prepare evaluation forms to be completed by class participants at the last class meeting.

Oversee evaluation tallying.

Complete certificates for all who have completed the 30 hours, including make-ups.

Provide rosters with completion/make-up status to the data/support staff person.

Prepare make-up lists of any students who will need to make up (up to two modules) during the next cycle of classes.

Send make-up information to those eligible.

Teach eight orientation classes per year.

Support recruitment and registration of students into TECTA CDA preparation courses and other ECED degree programs.

Maintain current and accurate information related to CDA Credential and ECED degree requirements.

Maintain current and accurate contact information related to the academic institutions in the service area.

Provide information regarding early childhood credentials and degrees to all participants in TECTA Orientation classes.

Assist with registration of TECTA supported students at consortia institutions as needed.

Assist with quarterly advisory committee meetings.

Provide CDA advising and candidate support for developing documentation for approximately 8 students per calendar year.

Attend CDA Candidate Support Group meetings for current candidates.

Provide candidates with current information regarding community services and supports available to them during the documentation preparation process.

Schedule visits (2-3 per candidate).

Provide support and approval for the development and completion of candidate documentation for assessment.

Complete candidate observations and Observation Assessment Instruments.

Assist candidates with CDA Assessment Fee Scholarship forms, transcript requests, etc. for assessment applications.

Attend monthly staff meetings and other meetings at the request of the TECTA site coordinator and/or the TECTA institution administrator.

Assist with quarterly advisory committee meetings.

Assist with the production of quarterly reports and other reports requested by TECTA management.

Maintain a positive relationship with the area CCR&R

Attend and/or assist with the coordination of quarterly Partner Meetings.

Participate in the planning and/or provision of collaborative events (training days, celebrations, calendars, etc.).

Maintain a positive relationship with the area DHS Licensing Supervisors and Program Evaluators.

Attend “New Director” meetings and share information about the TECTA system.

Include local DHS office personnel in all mailings related to TECTA services, including class schedules.

Include local DHS office staff on the local TECTA Advisory Committee.

Maintain a positive relationship with the area AEYC, FCC, and other professional organizations. When possible, agree to hold office, serve on boards or committees, participate in membership events and conferences, participate in Week of the Young Child events and celebrations, contribute information to newsletters, etc.

Working Conditions:

Sedentary: Desk work; occasional travel may be required for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other than normal movement. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office settings. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.

Required Qualifications:

Understanding the needs and challenges of this profession.

Knowledge of management and administration of child care programs.

Must be flexible to teach evening, weekends, and/or off campus classes, trainings, and informational sessions as needed (requires the use of personal vehicle).

Must be familiar with the Environment Rating Scales.

Minimum Requirements of Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, child and family studies or related field from a regionally accredited institution.

One year of professional experience in instruction or administration within a childcare facility or Early Childhood Education (ECE) program.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.

Minimum starting pay is $33,500 annually ($17.17 per hour). With additional experience pay increases to a maximum pay of $41,900.
