JOB.DESCRIPTION

The Surgical Technology Director for Student Success is a member of the Surgical Technology staff and reports to the Surgical Technology Director. The purpose of the Surgical Technology Director for Student Success to advise, recruit and register students who are interested in the Surgical Technology program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Must have knowledge of student development and community college students with excellent listening and communication skills.

Advise health care related students.

Must attend master advisor training and maintain master advising status.

Responsible for providing academic counseling to students upon request.

Must actively recruit at the high schools, community and the college.

Provide career and transfer college information.

Coordinate day to day operations.

Advise students in the Advising Centers and online as needed.

Provide assistance with orientations for new students in the Surgical Technology Program.

Assist the Surgical Technology student with guidance, tutoring, and academic counseling.

Working Conditions: Sedentary:

Desk work; travel will be required to visit high schools and DSCC locations. Insignificant effort other than normal movement. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office settings. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.

Required Qualifications:

Must have written and oral communication skills.

Must have the personality to work with people from diverse backgrounds.

Minimum Requirements of Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
