Duquesne University is Hiring a Student Affairs Coordinator – College of Osteopathic Medicine Near Pittsburgh, PA

Duquesne University College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Student Affairs Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting and enhancing the overall student experience. This position involves coordinating various student-related programs, services, and events, as well as collaborating with other departments to ensure a positive and inclusive campus environment. The Student Affairs Coordinator will work closely with DUQCOM’s Dean and Associate Deans, the Director of Student Affairs, students, faculty, and staff to address student needs, promote engagement, and contribute to the development of a vibrant DUQCOM community. The position reports to the Director of Student Affairs.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with planning, organizing, and providing insight for the logistics of official events including new DUQCOM and MBS student orientations, the White Coat ceremony, and DUQCOM and MBS graduations as well as open houses, accepted student days, and other events; this will require working collaboratively with members of various Duquesne University departments in preparation for these events.

Assist with advising student organization leaders on creating new student organizations, organizing and implementing club activities, coordinating event management, and other mentoring and advising for students as needed.

Under the leadership of the Director of Student Affairs, collaborate with faculty, academic advisors, and staff to identify student need and provide services, resources, and support to allow them to be successful. Assist with promoting diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives in DUQCOM and on campus, and ensuring that all students feel welcome, valued and represented. Support the development and organization of programs that will be implemented at the DUQCOM which celebrate and recognize cultural diversity and foster a sense of belonging for all members of the DUQCOM community.

Assist Director of Student Affairs as an intake officer for student complaints, gather information from appropriate resources, investigates issues, make recommendations and suggest action to take across various levels of the DUQCOM to resolve a variety of problems, issues, and complaints.

Assist the Admissions and Student Affairs departments in the logistics and communications to students throughout the application, interview, and matriculation processes as well as with recruitment and retention activities, some of which may necessitate travel through the region.

Along with the Director of Student Affairs, represent DUQCOM’s Student Affairs department at designated meetings such as admissions meetings, on-campus meetings, and program events as appropriate.

Completes other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required, preferably in a life science or STEM-related field.

Willingness and ability to utilize new technologies relevant to the position

Knowledge of, or the ability to learn internal University systems

Experience and training in a higher education environment, with knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes but is not limited to demonstrated proficiency with current Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Publisher as well as Outlook e-mail

Must be mobile and have the ability to lift up to 25 pounds

Must have a valid PA driver’s license and be able to travel

Preferred qualifications:

Prior experience working in the healthcare field, medical education field, or other student-facing positions is preferred
