Administrative Coordinator-Pipeline Program – College of Osteopathic Medicine Salary: Commensurate with experience POSITIONSUMMARY: The Administrative Coordinator for the DuquesneUniversity COM will support the development and implementation of a high schoolpipeline program to support local students from impoverished neighborhoodsdemonstrating an interest and aptitude in STEM toward a healthcare career. Thecoordinator will support the design of the summer program and the tutoringprogram and will work cooperatively with the Associate Dean for AcademicAffairs, the Director of Student Affairs, high school teachers and administrators,participating students and their caregivers, and others as needed. The positionwill have significant interaction with both students and faculty. This position isneeded to support the “Paving a Path to Medicine” project funded by a RichardKing Mellon Foundation Grant in the School of Medicine for the period10/31/2023 through 10/31/2024. This position is specifically funded by thegrant. DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES: Finalize the plan for near-peer STEM tutoring for participants, includingsolicitation, selection, and training of Duquesne University or neighboringuniversity students who have demonstrated expertise in STEM coursework, andwork with school officials and participant caregivers to ensure participants’good attendance, appropriate behavior in and out of school, and continuedengagement in the program. Finalize the design and curriculumof the on-campus summer experience including the purchase of supplies andidentification of instructors to carry out the program. Assist in the creation of a processfor the selection of interested students including an application, interview,and permission from caregivers and actively participate in the selection ofthis year’s cohort of student participants. Identify school systems inAllegheny County, PA that serve low-income, impoverished, or underservedcommunities and establish relationships with school administrators and guidancecounselors. Complete alltraining and certifications required by Pennsylvania law to work with minorsincluding training to drive a University vehicle. Participate in the preparation andsubmission of additional grants to funding agencies to extend and expand thisprogram. Collect and analyze data andparticipate in outcomes reporting to the granting agency. Travel required for this position. Completes other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and 1-3 years work relatedexperience. Current PADriver’s License Preferredqualifications: Bachelor’s in a life science or STEM-related fieldpreferred. Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination ofexperience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilitiesrequired to perform the essential job functions.
