Duquesne University is Hiring a Program Manager – Grefenstette Center Near Pittsburgh, PA

This is a Program Manager position in the recently established Carl G. Grefenstette Center for Ethics in Science, Technology, and Law at Duquesne University. This position will report to the Executive Director (ED). This is a full-time, hybrid position.
The person in this position will manage the programs and events for the center, including conferences, hackathons, student trips, lectures, campus discussions, competitions, and virtual workshops. The Program Manager will work closely with the other team members to run all successful programs, advertise both online and in-person, help apply for and manage grants, and assist with other Center responsibilities as required. The Program Manager will be also be the chief manager of various email and personnel lists and communication chains, and will be responsible for managing the online web and email presence of the Center.
The Grefenstette Center relies upon teamwork, problem solving, and bringing to life a vision of the center that does not currently exist. This position requires someone who is willing to construct something new and work closely with the other team members to make this happen. This is a grant-funded, 2 year position with the possibility of renewal that is dependent upon the reception of future grants.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides day-to-day administrative duties for the center, including working with our financial officer to ensure successful coverage of all stipends, travel costs, and reimbursements.
Organizes details of events such as conferences, hackathons, competitions, and lectures. This may include creation of graphics and advertising flyers.
Manages all communications of the center, including email newsletters, website, advertising, and any social media.
Assists with writing of and management of grants, especially editing, proofreading, and writing as needed.
This is a hybrid position. The program manager must work on campus approximately 2-3 days per week during the academic year and be present for on campus and regional events as needed throughout the year.
Completes other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Must have general knowledge in administrative support applications, Microsoft Office products, a keen eye for proofreading and spreadsheet organization.
Must also be a ready and willing team player with a keen sense of identity and wanting to grow.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience managing events, crafting communication and advertising, helping to apply for grants, and running day-to-day aspects of a university center.
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Passionate, hardworking individuals who can organize, plan, and advertise events without dropping the ball.
