POSITIONSUMMARY:

The Director of ClinicalAffairs will supervise and facilitate the daily operations of the Office ofClinical Affairs at the Duquesne University College of Osteopathic Medicine(DUQCOM). The position will require significant interaction with students,staff, clinical partners, and faculty, and an amicable professional demeanor isessential. The Director of ClinicalAffairs reports to the Assistant Dean for Clinical Affairs and Associate Deanfor Clinical Affairs.

DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES:

Support the Assistant and Associate Deans for Clinical Affairs inthe operation of the Office of Clinical Affairs to achieve the mission ofDUQCOM.

Work collaboratively with the faculty and staff to support medicalstudents in the clinical curriculum and related experiences at DUQCOM.

Provide operational support for the Office of Clinical Affairsincluding communications with partner clinical sites, coordinators, clinicalfaculty, students, and site leaders.

Supervise and advise the Clinical Affairs Coordinators.

Supervise the posting of all teaching materials, including onlinecourse material for clinical rotations, curricula, and experiences as assigned.This includes maintaining an up-to-date list of student and faculty access andresources for Canvas, True Learn, NBOME, ERAS, VSLO, Careers in Medicine,Altus, Banner, and others as assigned.

Develop and oversee processes related to the student selectionprocess for core clinical sites and rotations, the student submission andapproval process for selective and elective rotations, and the residency match.

Participate in the review and revision of policies and procedurespertinent to the Office of Clinical Affairs.

Organize and maintain Office of Clinical Affairs files and recordsincluding student and clinical faculty files, affiliation agreements, andclinical site agreements.

Develop and manage MS3 and MS4 academic and block calendars andcourse syllabi, to ensure they are complete and accurate before release.

Oversee the compilation, formatting, and administration of all MS3and MS4 exams.

Review all item analyses from exams with faculty to determine whento post grades for students, and work collaboratively with the Office ofAssessment regarding the evaluation of performance outcomes.

Participate in the process of quality improvement of thecurriculum based on course outcomes and faculty recommendations.

Maintain and calculate current grades in clinical rotations andcourses as assigned.

Submit all final grades for clinical rotations and courses to theMedical Registrar and assist with the MSPE development and distribution.

Coordinate the process by which students assess clinical sites andfaculty instruction.

Participate in student events including the White Coat ceremony,graduation, orientation, accepted student’s day, etc.

Work collaboratively with the Office of Student Affairs and theOffice of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion concerning student wellness andsupport.

Assist with the strategic planning process to foster a culturethat promotes positive learning and student success.

Serve on College and University committees as assigned by the COMDean.

Communicate effectively with all levels of faculty and students.

All other responsibilities as assignedby the supervisor.

Completes otherduties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum qualifications:

Master’s degree in education orequivalent from an accredited institution.

Experience in administrativemanagement or leadership positions in a medical school, graduate medicaleducation program, or other institutes of higher education preferred.
