Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Coordinator will advise students and graduates on career issues and strategies, job search methods, interviewing skills and appropriate interview follow-up techniques, resume preparation, and other related matters. This position will also assist the college in determining and driving career services strategies to support the Career Services Center in the development of new employer relationships while fostering and building upon existing relationships with employers of Dunwoody graduates to increase the number of jobs available to students.
RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS
Event / Project Management
  • Develop and execute special events, career/job fairs, workshops, and professional development webinars.
  • Make use of a variety of marketing strategies and methods from in-person networking, webinars, and social media to promote the services of the Career Services Center.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Career Services Center
Equity focus
  • Build relationships with employers and organizations that are focused on closing the employment gap with the focus on creating a network of employers and organizations that support and hire our students from historically disadvantage populations, students with disabilities and our 1st generation students.
  • Create and pursue employment goals that are in line with our strategic enrollment initiatives for the college.
  • In collaboration with the New Student Retention Coordinator, develop career focused workshops.
Supervision
  • Lead and manage the Career Services and Student Life intern in collaboration with our New Student Retention Coordinator
  • Supervise the Career Services Student worker
Career Coaching
  • Actively coach graduates and students on career search strategies, personal development and marketing, interviewing skills, and rsum preparation through workshops, classroom presentations, and one-on-one meetings to ensure their preparedness to meet the challenges of securing and keeping meaningful employment
  • Respond to alumni inquiries. Assist alumni with understanding and accessing career resources.
  • Maintain our Handshake and Big Interview software to ensure sufficient job opportunities and resources are available for students and graduates
Annual Graduate Employment Statistics
  • In collaboration with our Institutional Research Department develop, track, document, and report employment statistics, graduate profiles, success stories, and employment progress to students, faculty, and staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week.
  • Excellent computer skills including knowledge of the Microsoft 365 suite of applications, specifically Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Power Automate is helpful.
  • Ability to learn new computer applications and demonstrate proficiency given adequate training.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data.
  • Ability to think critically and strategically to develop new strategies and goals.
  • Ability to talk on the phone.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, potential employers and/or other external constituents.
  • Ability to communicate difficult messages in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet frequently occurring deadlines.
  • Must be goal and team oriented to build positive working relationships, and conduct business with attention to ethical considerations, and/or school/accreditation guidelines.
  • Ability to speak publicly and present information and training material in a cohesive, organized manner.
  • Ability to coach students in job search strategies including rsum preparation and interviewing skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality as required by FERPA regulations.
  • Ability to work with and communicate effectively with people from all backgrounds and at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently to source new employment prospects for graduates.
  • Ability to organize events within deadlines and budgets.
  • Must have strong organizational skills, exceptional networking skills, and consistently displays the highest levels of integrity.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including select evenings and weekends to meet college business needs.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and/or schedule form.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts that speak to productivity and effective decision-making. Ability to read and interpret charts, graphs and other visually-presented data.
  • Ability to work within stated budget requirements; be fiscally responsible.
  • To perform the job successfully, must have adequate knowledge of and willingness to use specialized software such as PowerCAMPUS, Great Plains, Adobe Products, SolidWorks, PowerFAIDS, Canvas, ticketing systems and/or other databases/electronic aids, in order to be as self-sufficient as possible in day-to-day operations. Use and maintain shared network folders to greatly limit reliance on personally stored items and documents.
  • While performing the duties of this job, an individual is regularly required to use hands to feel or handle/manipulate objects. Frequently required to sit, lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 25-50 pounds. Must possess good vision and depth perception. Individual is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to climb stairs, set up/tear down displays, etc. Work is frequently performed inside, with occasional outdoor duties.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with Handshake and other career services related functions
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated knowledge and experience in a Career Services' office and/or Student Affairs' department.
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week.
  • Previous project and/or event management experience.
  • Autonomy and self-direction
