Duke is Hiring an Assistant Project Manager Near Durham, NC

Occupational Summary 

Perform a variety of duties in the planning, implementation and facilitation of construction and renovation projects; manage the assignment and utilization of space.

Work Performed 

  • Initiate, coordinate and evaluate cost estimates for renovation and construction projects; monitor project budgets and work toward completion; participate in final inspections to ensure compliance with approved specifications. 
  • Resolve special construction problems and assist managers in determining priorities for changes during construction or renovation; monitor risk management including infectious disease factors related to renovation and construction projects. 
  • Coordinate and facilitate multidisciplinary meetings to prepare user groups for renovations, construction and/or occupancy of space. 
  • Coordinate mechanical shutdowns; assess impact to facility and users to minimize risks and disruptions. 
  • Maintain liaison with consulting engineers, architects, contractors, and other departments to obtain and relay information concerning cost and status of renovation projects. 
  • Represent Departmental Administration regarding facility and space planning projects; advise senior leadership regarding construction and renovation projects; prepare special analyses and reports related to long-range planning as appropriate. 
  • Inspect completion of renovation or special maintenance projects to ensure procedures and materials to comply with national, state and local building codes, Medical Center specifications, contract documents and/or work instructions. 
  • Prepare budget recommendations associated with maintenance and/or construction needs; prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions. 
  • Review reports, plans, documentation, and drawings to ensure compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies; ensure life safety drawings and plans are complete and up to date

Work requires knowledge of construction and renovation project finances and technical administration generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field. 

Experience

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
