Dr. Squatch is Hiring a Maintenance & Facilities Manager Near Brea, CA

About the Role:

  • To support our rapid growth in our in-house facility manufacturing soap in Brea, CA. We need talented people to help us build what has become one of the largest cold-process soap manufacturing operations in the country.
  • The Maintenance Manager is a full-time role that will oversee the day-to-day operations of our new plant, including general maintenance and overall upkeep of production equipment.
  • This role will report to the Plant Director. 
  • This is a full-time on-site role with company benefits based out of Brea, CA.
  • The anticipated base compensation for this role will be $110,000 to $135,000.Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and local market rates.

What You'll Do:

  • Responsible for the overall effectiveness of the mechanical and instrument/electrical maintenance functions for the plant.
  • Estimate, schedule, and control expenses in maintenance operations and projects
  • Submit and manage yearly departmental budgets
  • Ensure compliance with life safety and environmental regulations as required by regional and local regulatory agencies
  • May work on floorplans, lab set-up, and mechanical systems for sites globally (travel not required)
  • Act as an advisor on all projects related to facilities and equipment
  • Lead by example to ensure all plant employees maintain a clean and safe working environment and adhere to all safety and hygiene procedures
  • Responsible for the proper management of the Storeroom inventory.
  • Provide long term direction to the maintenance department.
  • Assist in ensuring equipment reliability by following good maintenance practices in repairs, inspections, preventive and predictive maintenance, as well as following the appropriate standards for new equipment installation.
  • Ensure all work is performed to comply with all applicable regulations (OSHA 1910.119,RMP, etc.).
  • Maintain an up to date plan for continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate the overall planning and execution of the plant’s annual maintenance turnaround.

About You:

  • High school diploma required, Bachelor’s degree or qualifications in an analytical or technical field highly desired
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a maintenance leadership position in a manufacturing facility
  • Supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Strong contract and financial experience, skilled in creating, developing, and managing capital and operating budgets
  • Strong communication and influencing/leadership skills
  • Self-starter, comfortable prioritizing own tasks and operating in a fast-paced startup environment, with minimal supervision
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical documents
  • Experience documenting processes, policies and procedures using software such as MS Office or Google Docs
  • Experience with data entry, basic analysis and reporting using software such as MS Excel or Google Sheets
  • Familiarity with regulatory and standards such as: OSHA, GMP, SQF, HACCP, FDA, USDA
  • Familiarity with Los Angeles County industrial building code, certifications, health and safety standards
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) highly desired
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Interest in health and wellness, personal care, and/or eCommerce industries
  • Experience working in the consumer products industry is highly preferred
  • Someone who gets things done without perfect resources is innovative and works with a sense of urgency
  • Someone who has high standards takes ownership and is invested in the outcome
  • Someone who proactively helps others stays positive and has a good sense of humor
