Description

Responsible for processing all types of cashier transactions. Reports to Supervisor.

Essential Functions and Duties :

• Process and balance all payment applications, including irregular payments, suspense, corporate advance deposits, collection / bankruptcy payments, and payment reversals accurately and timely.
• Communicate with other departments to process payments with stops applied.
• Monitor daily reports, faxes, email, and other information received to ensure timely application of all payments.
• Research and reconcile outstanding payment clearing items and balance discrepancies.
• Handle Branch Payment Interface issues with Systems and clients to ensure timely and accurate posting of interface file.
• Research and identify checks that do not include appropriate documentation.
• Create Excel spreadsheets, passports, and punches as required.
• Research and reconcile GL1100 to collect funds due.
• Resolve complex payment and payoff issues through analysis of data, reports, and loan histories.
• Handle Branch Payment transmittal issues with clients to ensure timely and accurate postings of transmittals.
• Mentor Payment Specialist I & II.
• May assist Team Lead and Management in the training of new or seasoned employees.
• Assist as needed in reviewing and sorting payments received by overnight and regular mail.
• Comply with Code of Conduct and regulatory training requirements.
• Run checks through NCR check processing system.
• Successfully complete annual regulatory compliance training.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications :

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 5 years of cash handling or accounting experience in a high-volume setting.
• Superior data entry, basic math, and cash balancing skills.
• Solid PC skills : Proficient with Microsoft applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to handle complex, multiple tasks simultaneously with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to always interact in a positive and professional manner with all levels of both internal and external audiences.
• Detail-oriented and able to follow complex instructions accurately.

Preferred / Other Qualifications :

• Experience with MSP processing software.
• Experience in mortgage servicing.
• Bank Teller experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment :

The employee must be comfortable in either an on-site office setting, or a quiet, designated work from home space that is free from distractions and noise.

The employee is regularly required to communicate (give / receive) information through multiple methods of communication with clear understanding from others.

Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

The employee must be able to remain in a stationary position and or move about the organization or remote office. The employee is frequently required to stand or walk (or otherwise move through the organization);

sit; use hands to type, write, handle, or feel and reach. May occasionally climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; or lift and / or move up to 25 lbs.

Employees may be required to type and utilize a computer for long periods of time.

The employee may be required to frequently operate a standard variety of office equipment including computers, calculators, copy machine, computer printer and phones.

The noise level, if working on-site, is usually moderate and typical of an office environment.
