Hiring a Donut Fryer to join our team making yeast raised donuts at our new production facility in University Village area/Laurelhurst (zip code 98105). At Dough Joy, we do donuts differently, as we make tasty yeast raised donuts without any animal products in creative and fun flavors. You'll be part of our growing team! Baking or donut making experience preferred, but not required!

As a Donut Fryer, you'll be responsible for proofing and frying donuts during the night bake alongside with a small team of bakers & decorators. This position would be a great fit for someone who has an incredible attention to detail, wants to show off their skills, has a love for yeast, and who takes pride in their attention to detail and is willing to learn. You will be cross trained in other aspects of the bake as well so that support can be provided if & when needed to the bake team, however your dedicated position will typically be as the Donut Fryer.

Special Duties Include

• Being highly attentive to detail; temperature, timing, and weights
• Follow instructions and recipes
• Experience & ability to safely use a fryer
• Change out fryer oil & proofing cabinet when required
• Maintain a clean frying area
• Multi-task while maintaining consistency and quality of product
• Troubleshoot inconsistencies in quality
• Minimize waste
• Wash, sanitize, and dry all items placed in the utility area including all donut making utensils and machinery
• Comply with all safety and sanitation (including hand washing) guidelines and procedures
• Utilize troubleshooting and problem-solving when faced with hurdles
• Be proficient in the use and operation of all necessary tools and equipment including scales, mixers, and other commonly used kitchen equipment
• Perform more than one task at a time, calmly and effectively in an extremely busy and stressful work environment
• Work in a confined space by yourself and sometimes with others to prepare all donuts
• Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools and equipment

Requirements

• Must be willing and open to learning, trial, and error, and adapting to changing situations
• Reliable transportation (public transport is not always readily available in this area during overnight hours)
• Maintain a positive attitude & work well with others
• Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to stand and walk for an entire shift
• WA State food handler card is mandatory upon hire
• Communicate effectively with other team members & management

Schedule

• Schedule: Wed - Sun 4:30pm-1:00am (average) or until bake completed (time varies and may end earlier or later depending on day/batch size).
• 30-40/hr week

Pay

• $22/hour Base Wage Tips (avg. $3-$5 per hour) = Typically $25-$27 /hr
• We offer a Tip Guarantee of $25, so you will not make less than $25 combined with tips, company will ensure your gross pay is no less than $25.
