EMC Mechanical Services is looking for a Construction Superintendent to join our Major Projects division! In this role, the Construction Superintendent will oversee multiple team members, and support them in their dealings with subcontractors, suppliers, customers, and inspectors at various work sites. The Superintendent will ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, provide progress updates to management, and drive innovation in each project. Effective communication, problem-solving skills, and talent development are key, along with a strong focus on safety.

What You’ll Do:

General:

• Manage safety practices and culture.
• Keep trailer clean, organized, and locked when not in use.
• Efficiently coordinate on-site activities to prevent delays.
• Help develop project schedules and provide feedback.
• Optimize the use of time, materials, and equipment to reduce waste and costs.
• Mentor and train team members for better performance.
• Ensure the project will follow design requirements to avoid re-work and failed inspections.
• Resolve construction problems to minimize financial impact.
• Take on extra tasks to ensure project success.
• Maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and neighbors.
• Track labor and materials.

Cost & Risk Management:

• Find creative ways to improve profit margins efficiently.
• Plan purchases to minimize excessive credit card use and “emergency” requests.
• Review and approve subcontractor scopes of work promptly.
• Efficiently use invoice review software to review invoices at least twice a week.
• Track change orders, subcontractor payments, and changes.
• Prioritize safety inspections and training for on-site staff, emphasizing safety over production through daily talks and walks.

Quality Control:

• Keep the work site safe, clean, organized, and secure throughout the project, as demonstrated in inspection reports without recurring safety issues.
• Help estimate work, confirm timelines, and stick to budgets.
• Check shop drawings for contract compliance and oversee the installation of approved components.
• Ensure accurate layout and keep testing and inspection logs.
• Manage equipment inventory and use it efficiently.
• Handle all inspection-related tasks, including requests, logs, and compliance.
• Enforce safety program rules, identify violations, and ensure corrective actions are taken, responding promptly to safety violation reports with written notices within 48 hours.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring:

• At least 3 years of foreman-level experience is required.
• OSHA 30-hour certification or higher is required.
• Bi-lingual is preferred, but is not required.
• Hold a Procore “Superintendent” certification, or be willing to obtain one upon hire.

What We Are Looking For:

• Successful completion of field leadership training through ABC or AGC.
• Knowledge of construction methods and technologies, and ability to interpret technical drawings and contracts.
• Knowledge of building code requirements and scheduling methods.
• Ability to manage multiple direct reports simultaneously with a constant eye on quality.
• Knowledge of job site safety practices and reporting.
• MS Office Proficiency.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record is required.
• Project Scheduling Training (MSProject).
• Must be able to crawl, kneel, squat, and climb. 
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, unassisted. 
• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
