Director / Video Creator - Donut Media

We’re looking to hire great video creators, directors, “preditors” —people who love making content for the internet. You’re a student of Youtube & social video. You understand the evolving *game* that is internet content creation in 2023. You’re independent, multifaceted and resourceful.

Freelance, hourly role based in-person at our Inglewood, California headquarters --with the opportunity to grow to full time.

Every project at Donut is different but a general idea of responsibilities:

• Creative Direction - Own the creative direction and execution from end to end of a video, from ideation and pitching to creative leadership, leading a kick off meeting, engaging hosts and supporting team members, spinning up creative production, directing the video shoot, giving feedback on edits and post video release self assessment and debrief.
• Total Ownership - The director is the absolute owner of a project both in a creative and logistical standpoint and is expected to wayfind a path to success, collaborating with people across the company to bring the approved creative to life. If an obstacle is encountered the director will flag to creative leadership and production management and propose a solution or a pivot.
• Directing - Lead creative on the day of the shoot, directing hosts, crew and other elements, utilizing the team’s time for maximum creativity, minimizing unnecessary downtime, capturing all necessary assets including thumbnail photos, social and more and filling out wrap report and conducting an editorial kick off meeting with post production.
• Continuous Improvement - Keep an eye on opportunities for improvement on a go-forward basis, conducting and sharing a self assessment after the video has gone live and ideating ways to make the next video better than the last

Qualities:

• Ability to develop a vision and communicate it effectively to other creatives, talent, directors, and production
• Ability to work in a demanding, high pressure and time sensitive environment
• Versed in Adobe Creative Suite
• Good comedic sense awareness/interest in cars are big bonuses
• Professional experience not necessary --BUT we want to see what you’ve done!
