What you'll do

In the Senior Director of Engineering - Identity role, you will lead the team that is responsible for DocuSign Agreement Cloud’s high-volume, low-latency user management services. Come help build a highly scalable, performant, available, and secure global service. Docusign Identity team builds and operates authentication and authorization stack for Agreement Cloud, the scope includes securely storing user data in a distributed system and enabling connections between components of the Agreement Cloud. The responsibility also includes identifying inefficiencies in design and architecture and driving to eliminate them while increasing security and stability for current customers, creating applications and services that will enable the transparent use of identity and authorization services, driving innovation and standardizing the technical stack, while migrating the legacy systems to Public Cloud and mentoring and contributing to the growth of other engineers by being a thought leader and becoming a domain expert. 

You will be successful in this role if you are a critical thinker with the ability to quickly understand existing systems, have past experience in architecting Identity systems, the ability to mentor and gain respect from the team, and the ability to work in agile environments. You are someone that can take smart and educated risks. 

This position is a people manager role reporting to the VP, Engineering - Sign.

Responsibility

• Manage and mentor a team of engineers responsible for DocuSign's Identity Provider (2.0 OpenID Connect) and our Identity Framework (helping people signing up prove who they are)
• Hire, grow and lead a world class engineering team as a magnet for hiring and developing great talent
• Dive deep into technology and be the forefront of the latest tools, technologies, and strategies to help evaluate, prototype, and introduce them to our team
• Work with Product Management and other development teams to understand and translate marketing requirements into design requirements and provide estimates for development 
• Drive product simplification and increased customer adoption
• Standardize the technology stack and drive Public Cloud migration of the technology stack

Job Designation

Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring

Basic 

• Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Informatics, or equivalent
• 25 years of combined software development and management experience across multiple languages and frameworks or equivalent experience
• 10 years managing software organizations with over 25 people or equivalent experience

Preferred

• Experience managing engineering teams that deliver identity solutions that are functional, secure, scalable, and reliable
• Previous work in authentication, authorization, or identity areas 
• A passion for continuous improvement by building organizations that keep up with state of the art and are an example and mentor to your team
• Demonstrated track record leading geographically dispersed teams
• Track record of shipping high-quality product features on schedule 
• Knowledge and experience in high scale, highly available (99.99 ) Cloud services

Wage Transparency

Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:

California: $216,500.00 - $345,200.00 base salary

Illinois and Colorado: $201,600.00 - $284,850.00 base salary

Washington and New York (including NYC metro area): $201,600.00 - $305,750.00 base salary

This role is also eligible for bonus, equity and benefits.
