What you'll do

The Engineering manager directs the cross-site software engineering function in developing, releasing, and maintaining software applications according to business needs. You will coordinate with the team leads the activities of employees engaged in development of product stack and work with various key stakeholders of software development for assembling product road map to support the company vision.

The Engineering manager understands stakeholder impact, and aligns team and own work accordingly and recommends solutions. 

This position is a People Manager and reports to the Director of Engineering.

Responsibility

  • Manage a team of software engineers who develop software for product stack
  • Provide oversight on internal and external project dependencies and critical paths while ensuring appropriate risk and contingency plans are in place at all times
  • Hire staff, frame clear and ambitious goals for the team while connecting people and disrupting silos
  • Set direction on software development methodology, including development tools and techniques, by approving all high-level software concepts and designs
  • Monitor compliance with Product Development Process and software lifecycles
  • Work collaboratively across different time zones and geographies
  • Assure efficient and economical utilization of resources, improvement of methods, and elimination of wasteful practices within the department; may include budget development and control
  • Provide primary input for performance appraisals, salary reviews, and performance bonus distribution

Job Designation

Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring

Basic 

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • Extensive engineering experience, preferably hands on experiences with software platforms, ideally at principal engineer level or in a team lead or management role
  • Organizational competencies and project management skills to keep projects, processes, and the entire engineering team on track

Preferred 

  • Programming skills in C# or Java
  • Familiarity with cloud deployment technologies, such as Kubernetes or Docker containers
  • Experience designing, building, consuming RESTful and gRPC based web-services
  • Experience with CI/CD build pipelines, integration testing, unit testing, and test-driven development
  • Ability and desire to move across technology stacks fluently and easily
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multitask and thrive in a time sensitive environment
  • Interpersonal communication skills with expertise in distilling complicated topics to a broader audience
  • Leadership skills necessary to manage and develop a team
