I. General Job Description

This position will be responsible for overseeing all accounting processes and monitor administrative processes within the new, used truck sales, and vocational functions to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and/or reviewing appropriate ledger entries and reconciliations
  • Maintaining the general ledger system
  • Prepare and distribute various daily/monthly managerial reports/analysis to leadership group
  • Assist in preparing and submitting monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements with regulatory/3rd party entities as applicable
  • Researching accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Coordinating the annual budget process
  • Hiring, training and supervising accounting staff
  • Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes
  • Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance
  • Continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices
  • Prepare detailed journal entries and account analysis
  • Review and/or perform account reconciliations as assigned
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested
  • Supervise and/or manage general ledger accounting functions
  • Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy and applying observations and recommendations to operational issues
  • Other duties as may be assigned

II. Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5 years of progressive accounting experience with a portion of it being in a supervisory role.
  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all level of an organization
  • Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results
  • Advanced knowledge off Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience with other financial systems.

III. Desired Job Qualifications

  • Automotive or heavy-duty equipment dealership experience. 
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • Strong problem-solving, organization, and communication skills.

  • Organization: Ability to organize and prioritize work schedules of others on long-term basis.
  • Reasoning & Decision Making: Ability to make decisions with significant impact on department’s credibility, operations, and services.
  • Communication: Ability to formulate complex and comprehensive materials, such as legal documents, authoritative reports, official publications of major scope and impacts, and make formal presentations.
  • Mathematics: Ability to compute, analyze, and interpret complex statistical data and develop forecasts and computer models.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not exposed to weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
