POSITION SUMMARY We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Commercial Manager to join our team at dnata Catering. As a Commercial Manager, you will play a key role in driving the commercial success of our aviation catering operations. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including airlines, vendors, and internal teams, to ensure efficient operations, maximize revenue, and deliver exceptional service to our clients.

dnata is one of the world’s largest air services providers. Established in 1959, the company ensures the aviation industry operates smoothly and efficiently in 127 airports. Offering ground handling, cargo, travel, and flight catering services in 35 countries across six continents, dnata is a trusted partner for over 300 airline customers around the world. Each day, the company handles over 1,900 flights, moves over 8,500 tons of cargo, books over 16,000 hotel stays, and uplifts over 320,000 meals.

You Will

  • Implement commercial strategies to maximize revenue generation and profitability for our aviation catering business.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with airline partners, vendors, and other key stakeholders in the aviation industry.
  • Collaborate with the Sales teams to identify and pursue new business opportunities, expanding our client base and market share.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with airlines and vendors, ensuring favorable terms and conditions for dnata Catering.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to identify opportunities for product and service enhancements.
  • Analyze financial data and performance metrics to evaluate the profitability of our aviation catering operations and make data-driven decisions.
  • Implement pricing strategies and manage pricing negotiations with airline partners, ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining profitability.
  • Lead a team of commercial professionals, providing guidance, support, and coaching to ensure their success and development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Finance, and Quality Assurance, to ensure seamless and efficient operations.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry regulations, market trends, and customer demands to proactively address any challenges or opportunities.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on market trends, financial performance, and commercial activities to senior management.

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

This salary range and is influenced by the level of experience. When calculating the base pay, we take into account various factors such as location, qualifications, training, and experience as part of the overall compensation package. $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 

You Have

  • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or similar role in the aviation or catering industry, preferably within a high-volume catering environment.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of commercial and financial principles in the aviation catering context.
  • Strong culinary expertise and knowledge of various cuisines, cooking techniques, and food safety standards in the aviation catering context.
  • Excellent negotiation and contract management skills, with a track record of successfully closing deals and maintaining strong business relationships.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a corporate office setting.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities, with the ability to identify opportunities and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve targets and drive results.
  • Knowledge of aviation industry regulations, quality standards, and customer service requirements.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for financial analysis, contract management, and reporting.

Intellectual/Social demands:

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits. Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. This position also requires constant attendance and punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time. Follows instructions, responds to management direction; Takes responsibility for own actions; Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan. Meets productivity standards; Strives to increase productivity; Works quickly. Follows through on tasks given and goes above and beyond in delivering internally as well to external parties.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 30 pounds. Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Use equipment and materials properly.

Work environment:

The essential functions of this position are performed indoors. The noise level in the work environment can range from minimal to loud.
