Job Description Summary 

DLA is looking for a skilled eDiscovery attorney to join the eDiscovery team, working with case teams and clients. This position will have a high level of responsibility and will include client and partner-level interaction. Ideal candidates will be able to manage multiple projects at the same time, work well under pressure and have excellent communication skills. The firm is seeking candidates who are high performing and committed to excellence. Candidates must be admitted to Bar in the state they are practicing. The attorney can be located in any state where DLA Piper has an office.

General & Essential Job ExpectationsWhile the specific job requirements of a DLA Piper position may vary depending upon scope of the job and area of specialty, there are certain universal requirements that are expected of all DLA Piper employees, which include but are not limited to:

  • Provide timely, accurate, and quality work product;
  • Successfully meet deadlines, expectations, and perform work duties as required;
  • Foster positive work relationships;
  • Comply with all firm policies and practices;
  • Engage in both physical and sedentary activity, such as (a) working at a computer for extended periods of time, including on-screen reading and typing; (b) participating in digital/virtual conference calls; (c) participating in meetings as needed;
  • Perform all other duties, tasks or projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or LL.M.
  • 3-5 years experience (in-house, law firm, government, etc.) working in eDiscovery
  • Experience with all facets of the EDRM
  • Strong project management skill.
  • Familiarity with document review workflows
  • Familiarity with litigation process and legal documents
  • Understanding of privilege law
  • Strong technical background, excellent computer skills, strong familiarity with Relativity including analytical and TAR-related eDiscovery tools
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent attention to detail, exceptional planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
  • Ability to work independently 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for eDiscovery work on complex litigation matters
  • Supervise and coordinate project execution to meet project timelines, budgets and standards
  • Draft and negotiate discovery related protocols, orders and agreements
  • Serve as point of contact with DLA case team, including partners, and/or client regarding eDiscovery project execution, implementation and status
  • Oversee document review teams
  • Create accurate budgets/estimates for review projects, as well as monthly revenue forecasting and monthly invoice review
  • Create and manage document review workflows, including QC process
  • Provide guidance and training to review attorneys to sustain and improve work product and performance
  • Create and maintain the DLA positive team environment

Physical Demands, Work Environment, and Other Requirements

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Pay Transparency

In accordance with California, New York, Washington Pay Transparency Law, the pay range for this position, if hired to work in California, New York, or Washington is $150,000-$200,000. The compensation offered to a candidate selected for employment will be dependent upon various factors, including the candidate’s geographic market, skills, educational and professional background, experience and overall qualifications.
