Job Description

The Retail Branch Manager is responsible for recognizing and anticipating the needs of the branch to meet budget goals and ensure that established policies and procedures are followed. He or she actively coaches, leads, and motivates employees, directing them to effectively identify the financial needs of customers. The Retail Branch Manager is responsible for business development and marketing of existing and prospective accounts. He or she builds meaningful relationships with customers and makes recommendations for products and services appropriately. The Retail Branch Manager receives, reviews, and evaluates consumer and small business loan requests and meets with applicants to explain credit policies and to obtain loan information and documentation. In addition, he or she assists commercial lending personnel as needed and serves borrowers and prospective borrowers as well as all customers promptly and professionally.
Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • At least three years of experience in banking as a retail operations supervisor or manager required
  • Understanding of Bank policies and procedures, regulations, and documents relating to retail operations as well as consumer lending documentation, collection programs, and determination of credit worthiness required
  • Active license number with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry or the ability to obtain such
  • Proven track record of community/civic/trade organization involvement and business development
  • Strong interviewing skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Able to use financial calculator and related computer applications and business machines


Responsibilities

  • Ensures that operations are conducted in accordance with established Bank policies and with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Serves in the paying and receiving and new accounts areas as needed and when staffing levels are low
  • Implements changes to established policies and procedures within the branch
  • Ensures branch security and ensures that building is opened and closed in accordance with set hours and tests security equipment quarterly
  • Ensures branch meets sales volume and/or profitability goals and standards for activity, such as number of sales calls, number of new client relationships established, deposit growth, etc.
  • Researches and develops potential customer lists
  • Ensures that individual and branch goals for cross-sell activities are met or exceeded and serves as a mentor and provides sales coaching to employees as needed
  • Seeks new loan opportunities, conducts interviews, takes applications, and processes documentation for consumer loan requests
  • Discusses loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, and loan documentation in such a manner as to elicit positive responses from customers
  • Enters information into internal consumer and small business lending approval system, calculates terms and finance charges, computes debt ratios and verifies employment and income, and ensures sufficient collateral values
  • Communicates loan decision to customer
  • Completes consumer and small business lending functions in accordance with established Bank policies and legal requirements
  • Provides leadership through effective objective setting, coaching, mentoring, and communication
  • Ensures that personnel are well trained in all phases of their respective jobs and ensures that assigned monthly product knowledge and security training is conducted
  • Determines work methods and flow through assigning, directing, coordinating, and reviewing tasks; ensures that personnel are effective and optimally used; and determines appropriate staffing levels for proper utilization of human resources
  • Tracks individual progress and conducts performance appraisals on each employee at least annually, formulates and implements corrective actions as needed, and recommends promotions for employees as appropriate
  • Ensures that customers' requests and questions are promptly resolved and handles customer complaints
  • Ensures that customers are informed of Bank services and policies and counsels customers regarding their financial needs and services requested
  • Ensures that the Bank's quality reputation is maintained and projected
  • Assumes responsibility for the total branch performance/profitability including, but not limited to, budgeting and income generation, and continually seeks ways to improve branch operations and productivity and meet established goals
  • Reviews daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual branch reports as needed or required
  • Ensures proper staffing levels in the branch, which includes recruiting/identifying talent, interviewing, and selecting the branch team
  • Manages and oversees branch expenses and pursues cost-saving measures
  • Communicates and reiterates D.L. Evans Bank vision and values with branch team members
  • Provide guidance and direction to branch staff positions to ensure compliance of regulatory, security, and internal controls, which includes timely completion of all branch operations tasks
  • Develops internal and external referral sources through participation in bank events, community activities, and seminars and professional groups (CPAs, attorneys, etc.)
  • Promotes D.L. Evans Bank at all times and serves as a representative for D.L. Evans Bank in the community
  • Creates an engaging environment for customers and employees
