Overview:
Dixon Resources Unlimited (DIXON) is a consulting firm that specializes in municipal parking, transportation, and mobility solutions. Our uniquely qualified team specializes in supporting municipal parking and mobility programs across the country, consistently proving our ability to identify and implement operations, management, and technology recommendations to transition municipal parking operations to long‐term, sustainable programs.

DIXON is looking for a_ part time Field Technician_ whose role will include field data collection by driving a vehicle (DIXON will provide a vehicle) using mobile License Plate Recognition (LPR) cameras to follow a data collection route using Google Maps to collect parking data. The selected candidate will be trained to use the equipment and their first project will be in San Rafael, California between April 17 – 21 (with flights to San Rafael on the 17th and return flight on the 21st). Data collection will occur throughout the day starting at 5am and ending past 11pm, with several breaks throughout the day. More than 40 hours of work will be provided during this week.

Travel expenses will be provided to the Field Technician, who must be available to travel and work on weekends occasionally, sometimes frequently depending on upcoming project timelines. During times that the Field Technician is not working in the field, data entry work may be provided, including entering data into Excel and GIS software.

PAY:

$20-25/HR depending on experience

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

• Assist in the creation of data collection strategies, coordinate the logistics of data collection, review the study area, and ensure appropriate collection practices.

• Assist in field data collection and management (travel to job sites may be required).

• Work with field data collection technology such as mobile License Plate Recognition (LPR) cameras, drones, and mobile applications such as Google Maps.

• Assist in project setup and data entry assignments.

• Research, compile, and analyze data for trends and key takeaways.

*

• Verify accuracy and completeness of raw data received.

*

• Illustrate data with maps and graphically, and translate complex findings into written text.

*

• Generate accurate reports that enable data driven decision‐making.

*

• Ability to draft procedures and technical specifications.

*

• Strong analytical, creative, and innovative approach to problem solving.

• Ability to learn and use other software that DIXON may need.

*

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field

*

• Entry level position but 1 years relevant experience in applied business practices or analysis preferred.

*

• Experience in public policy, transportation planning, analytics, urban planning, or related field is preferred. Knowledge of parking and transportation demand management is recommended.

• Experience with GIS tools and map interfaces.

*

• Must have Excel experience.

*

• Strong analytical, creative, and innovative approach to problem solving.

• Detail‐oriented, self‐motivated, and able to work in a deadline‐driven environment.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Ability to translate business requirements into non‐technical, lay terms
