Operating with minimal supervision, the Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for overseeing production eCommerce environments. This pivotal role involves monitoring system health comprehensively to enhance the overall customer experience positively. Collaborating closely with Engineering teams, Production Support, and Operations teams, the Senior Systems Engineer contributes to continual operational improvements, system up-time, and website performance optimization. Works closely with other teams to improve or close monitoring gaps, improve system performance and provide faster defect identification and resolution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Enhance overall system performance and resilience to meet key KPIs, focusing on response time and key customer experience indicators.
• Design and develop proactive monitoring, reporting, alerting, and analytics tools to prevent issues. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure system availability and implement ongoing monitoring and alerting services.
• Implement fault-tolerant and redundant systems to minimize downtime and ensure high availability. Develop strategies for automatic failover and recovery during failures.
• Participate in incident response efforts during system outages or performance degradation. Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and knowledge articles. Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement by sharing knowledge and best practices.
• Utilize various sources to identify opportunities for improving system capabilities, including industry trends, research organizations, and technical conferences.
• Foster a safe atmosphere for testing ideas, coordinate across teams, and influence teams developing or testing innovations. Provide recommendations for improvements.
• Complete assigned work in a timely and accurate manner, delivering exceptional customer service.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of five years of Systems Engineering experience, with hands-on experience in system reliability and performance.
• Proficiency in diagnostic and performance monitoring tools, with expertise in Dynatrace or similar tools preferred.
• Broad technical skills with common software systems, including front-end web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, ReactJS & jQuery preferred.
• Experience with RESTful API and/or GraphQL services.
• Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or SAP Cloud.
• Specialized expertise in multiple technologies, including common web stacks, networking, monitoring, and performance optimization.
• Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and tools.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build professional relationships with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organization, including clear and concise writing.
• Ability to identify complex problems, develop and evaluate options, and implement solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain professionalism.

Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, IT Software Engineering or related technical field or equivalent work experience.
