Position: Intellectual Property Paralegal

Locations: Washington D.C.

Full Time: Yes - Hybrid – 3 days in-person; 2 days remote

Salary range: $85,000-115,000/year

Position Summary:

The Intellectual Property Litigation Paralegal position is a full-time, non-exempt role based in Washington, D.C. The position involves providing essential paralegal support to multiple attorneys within the Intellectual Property practice group of our firm, ensuring compliance with all relevant statutes. The ideal candidate will be a confident, professional individual with excellent organizational and writing skills. The firm offers a comprehensive benefits package along with the opportunity to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment. The role requires presence in the office at least three days a week, typically aligning with attorney schedules, and flexibility to adapt to varying demands related to attorney needs, projects, and court trials.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support attorneys throughout all litigation phases, including drafting, research, document review and analysis, trial preparation, and live trial assistance in federal district courts and the ITC.
  • File documents or obtain them from federal courts, the ITC, and the USPTO.
  • Prepare and manage documents and deadlines for meetings, court filings, and more, ensuring timely follow-ups with attorneys.
  • Verify citations, proofread documents, and compile exhibits.
  • Maintain and manage all case materials, including digital files and database applications.
  • Collect, review, and organize documents from clients and opposing parties from production through discovery.
  • Conduct extensive factual research via Pacer and other resources to efficiently retrieve information or documents as requested by attorneys.
  • Monitor the progression of case materials and update counsel on docketing.
  • Undertake general administrative tasks such as managing mail, filing emails, and handling service payments.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and service providers.
  • Accurately track and record time to ensure appropriate billing of services.
  • Help attorneys and clients stay compliant with various regulatory requirements including ERISA, IRS, DOL, PBGC, CMS, and others.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An undergraduate degree and/or a paralegal certificate are required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Must have litigation experience; Intellectual Property litigation experience is preferred.
  • ITC experience is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and cases for several attorneys simultaneously.
  • Excellent organizational, research, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Prior experience in trial settings is highly valued.
  • Must be a resourceful self-starter with a proactive approach.
  • Must handle all business matters confidentially.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and e-discovery tools is necessary.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, are essential.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00 - $118,000.00 per year
