Diocese of Arlington Educ Office is Hiring a School Counselor Near Stafford, VA

Saint Timothy Catholic School is looking to add a dynamic educator to its already talented team. A love for working with children and a devotion to our Catholic faith are both prerequisites of the position. Included below are some additional responsibilities and duties that come with the position.

Requirements:
- passion for working with children, teachers and families in a faith community
- commitment to providing individualized spiritual and social-emotional support to students
- professionalism and sensitivity when handling confidential matters, maintained focus on the God-given dignity of each child
- comfort communicating with families to ensure aligned support between school and home
- willingness to avoid complacency and to try new practices

Duties and Responsibilities:
- be accessible to students with academic, spiritual, social or emotional concerns and guide them in addressing their concerns through the lens of the Catholic faith
- collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff and administration to ensure students' social/emotional needs are being supported in the classroom setting
- coordinate and lead meetings with families and teachers to address student needs
- create and implement guidance lessons to for classes ranging from kindergarten to eighth grade to promote an understanding of virtues and Catholic Social Teaching
- lead small groups for identified students to develop skills relating to social emotional development and executive function
- secure waivers and maintain professional communication with outside support professionals (psychologists, therapists, etc.) to align student support at school
- create, document and evaluate individualized support plans for students to promote mental health
- consult with the resource department and attend IEP meetings if applicable
