Job Summary:
DDC is building a formal Innovation & Solution Architecture capability in the form of a corporate level Strategic Innovations Team staffed with strong, highly experienced technologists and solution architects boasting expertise in the key technologies and disciplines enabling our customer’s digital transformation journey. This team collaborates closely with our Growth team and works across multiple delivery teams across our business units to create an innovation engine for DDC. This innovation engine translates modern technologies, industry best practices, and proven methodologies across specific disciplines into a strategic set of capability building blocks. These blocks can then be assembled into solutions tailored for each customer’s unique mission and problem space. In turn, the Strategic Innovations Team is responsible for giving voice to these capabilities in the form of proposal development, white paper development and pre-sales support.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
In this position, you will build intellectual capital to establish an overarching Modern Software Development practice as a core competency for DDC and its subsidiaries. You will be responsible for defining, building, and packaging to a comprehensive portfolio of branded, signature service offerings that deliver innovation, embedded compliance and differentiated value to our client’s missions. The capabilities you build will consist of a deliberate and informed mix of people, process, and technology to ensure DDC and its subsidiaries offer a suite of complete solutions and not merely one-off tools or technologies. More importanty, you will be asked to provide expert pre-sales and reach back support to our sales and client-delivery teams. You will be expected to provide solution architecture support and author content for RFP Tech Volumes, RFIs, SOOs and other materials where your specific expertise is relevant. We need excellent communicators who are willing and effective speakers, writers and collaborators. Other responsibilities as will include:
- Conduct and compile research on the modern software development landscape to ensure DDC capability and innovation efforts remain at the forefront of industry trends and compliance.
- Author the foundational formally defined, capability specific artifacts to establish the tangible, valuable intellectual capital which will be leveraged across all subsidiary business development and client-delivery teams.
- Collaborate closely with subsidiary client-delivery teams to perform ethnographic research on DDC customers and domain space. Develop profiles of DDC customers and the client-delivery teams supporting those customers to inform DDC capability development and innovation efforts.
- Identify and build strong relationships with subsidiary leadership and relevant subject matter experts across the DDC subsidiaries and fully integrate willing participants into all capability development and innovation efforts.
- Fully Support subsidiary-driven innovation efforts. Provide access to all Strategic Innovation Team resources including lab environment, software, SME support, technical standards, etc.
- Assist subsidiary efforts to properly leverage all Strategic Innovation Team processes, workflows, development processes, templates, standards, etc
- Build strong relationships with all subsidiary level portfolio managers and business development staff. Establish an open and ongoing dialog to ensure awareness of current business development efforts and potential technical needs. Also ensure BD teams are fully aware of developed capabilities and innovations which may be relevant to current business development or which may open doors to new opportunities.
- Serve as Capability Team Lead for all innovation and capability development associated with specific areas of targeted intellectual capital. Build a team of expert technologists and functional SME’s from across the subsidiaries. Subsidiary based team members will contribute technical expertise, functional expertise, innovation priorities, customer insights and development support.
- Develop detailed Project/Portfolio Innovation Profiles for all subsidiary project teams and customers to inform Innovation Priorities,
- Collaborate closely with other Innovation Team members to address cross-functional integration in all capability areas including Data Science, Cybersecurity, IT Infrastructure, Data Management, ITSM, DevOps and Cloud Adoption.
- Author capability slicks, white papers, playbooks and case studies showcasing DDC innovations, capabilities, ideas, frameworks, methodologies, customer success stories, et al for audiences that include internal teams, customer teams, pre-sales efforts, partners, potential partners and internal stakeholders.
- Educate and support portfolio managers, business development teams, program managers and project delivery teams to expand Tactical Selling opportunities with current customers.
- Assist in management of the Strategic Innovation Team’s Virtual Lab Environments
- Identify, acquire, install, configure, and maintain targeted Open Source, COTS and Cloud Native software capabilities for prototyping, evaluation, development and demonstration purposes.
- Participate in Innovation Team Agile Development activities supporting all product, methodology and support material development.
- Conduct research, testing, interviews, and other information gathering techniques to evaluate COTS, Open Source and Cloud Native technology solutions with respect to their features, costs, reputation, etc
- Coordinate with other Capability Teams to plan, facilitate, manage a variety of ideation events leveraging available idea management tools, methodologies, and best practices.
- Cooperate with the DDC Strategic Innovation Lead, the DDC Executive Team and other corporate directors to integrate and connect innovation with to corporate strategy, business planning and company operations to build and sustain a significant culture of innovation.
Job Requirements (Education/Skills/Experience):
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- US Citizen and ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.
- BA/BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science or similar
- 15 years of experience serving as an IT Solutions Architect in DoD, Civilian or Federal Agency environments.
- Recognized experience, expertise, credentials, and contributions in one or more of the following areas: Data Management, Data Science, Cloud Adoption, Cybersecurity, ITSM/DevOps, IT Infrastructure, Networking.
- Above average writing skills and willingness to write.
- Strong Servant Leader focused on enabling the success of others
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Functional literacy in Cloud capabilities, delivery models, use cases and value propositions.
- Functional literacy in DoD cybersecurity requirements relevant to Authority to Operate (ATO) and Authority to Connect (ATC)
- Experience briefing executive leaders in a customer setting.
- Multiple industry certifications in relevant disciplines/Technologies
- Strong industry presence with experience and/or capacity to speak at industry conferences, etc
- Ability to prepare and deliver effective content for training sessions, immersion briefs,et al.
