Product Manager – Metal Working The Product Manager’s mission is to maximize the sales, market share and overall profitability of the metal working product categories (welding, abrasives, cutting tools) in line with Dillon Supply’s core markets, by partnering with the right vendors, developing and executing optimal campaigns, analyzing cost and providing the necessary product training to the sales teams. The main goals and objectives are to:
Establish sales objectives by creating a sales plan and quota for the specific product categories in support of company objectives.
Grow product market share by working with marketing director to develop product sales strategies
Achieve sales objectives by contributing sales information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans
Work with E-Com Manager on growing e-business for major product lines
Help set marketing strategy for the specific product categories and specific end user verticals i.e. Construction, Manufacturing…
Maintain and expand customer base (net accounts) by working with sales teams; building and maintaining rapport with key customers; identifying new customer opportunities.
Works closely with local branch managers and territory managers on day-to-day sales objectives and goals, and stock plan (retail)
Set-up educational workshops with experts (internal for Sales teams and external for customers)
Meet / engage with core vendors regularly, with the participation of procurement team
Effectively communicate with all business units to ensure objectives are aligned
Ensure up to date status of product lines (remove obsolete lines and promote new ones)
Recommend new product lines / new technology that can help increase market share
Survey customer needs and trends; track competitors
Work closely with procurement team to:
Negotiate better overall terms with suppliers to ensure competitiveness in marketplace and bottom line improvement
Minimize the amount of dead stock
Requirements: 5 years product management experience 3 years experience selling welding products (filler metal, consumables, accessories, robotic…) Experience selling abrasives products and/or cutting tools (round tools primarily, hole making, milling, threading…) is a plus Skills and Qualifications: Meeting Sales Goals, Motivation for Sales, Territory Management, Presentation Skills, Performance Management, Communication skills, Building Relationships, Negotiation, Results Driven, Sales Planning, Managing Profitability
