Duties:
- Assist the dentists during dental procedures, including but not limited to fillings, crowns, extractions, implants, periodontal surgeries, and orthodontics.
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments in accordance with the most stringent infection control guidelines
- Take and develop dental radiographs (x-rays)
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions
- Perform dental laboratory procedures such fabricating and staining temporary restorations, 3D printing models and dental appliances, making bleaching trays, and pouring models
- Maintain accurate patient records and update medical history as necessary
- Assist with scheduling patient appointments and managing patient flow in the office
- Enter procedure codes into Asprodental software whenever treatment is planned by the doctor
- Provide support to the front office staff as needed
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of dental assisting techniques, procedures, and terminology
- Proficient in using dental equipment and instruments; willing to learn new skills/new technologies
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- Solid understanding of dental anatomy, oral health systems, and common dental conditions
- Familiarity with medical coding for dental procedures
- Ability to maintain strict infection control protocols to ensure patient safety
Requirements:
- Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program or previous work experience
- Current CPR certification
- X-ray certification and coronal polishing preferred but not required
