Responsibilities
• The Head Coach is responsible for the organization, management, operation, development, safety, and leadership of all levels of the athletic program, to include all students, assistant coaches, and volunteers participating within
• In addition, the Head Coach is responsible for the understanding of, adherence to, and enforcement of the policies, procedures, and best-practices set forth by DePaul College Prep, the Archdiocese of Chicago, the IHSA, the State of Illinois, and any other association in which the athletic program maintains membership
• Demonstrate an ability to lead, instruct, and supervise students, assistant coaches, and volunteers
• Provide for on-going program development with regard to strength, conditioning, flexibility, mental health, and recovery
• Provide for on-going program development with regard to servant leadership, sportsmanship, and teamwork
• Establish and maintain regular communication with students, families, staff, the Athletic Trainer, and Athletic Office
• Establish team policies to be communicated with families and the Athletic Office, and enforced in a fair and just manner
• Establish performance criterion and tools to be used to regularly evaluate the program, students, and staff members
• Establish and maintain records including, but not limited to, attendance, statistics, inventory, schedules, and staffing
• Assist the Athletic Office in scheduling training sessions, practices, competitions, and team transportation
• Assist the Athletic Office in enforcing school policies related to eligibility, discipline, safety and security, and transportation
• Assist the Athletic Office with budget appropriations; holds responsibility for the management of program inventory
• Assist the Athletic Office with the maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and condition of program inventory and facilities
• Assist the Athletic Office with student recognition, to include attendance or representation at the seasonal Awards Night
• Conduct or engage with feeder programs in a manner that promotes the school and complies with related regulations
• Conduct a summer camp, to include youth, in a manner that promotes the school and complies with related regulations
• Conduct on-going training of staff, delegate duties, adjust grievances, and participate in annual professional development
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with the media, conference/association leadership, and school alumni
• Perform additional duties in service of DePaul College Prepl as assigned by the Athletic Director or Principal
• Hours vary Monday through Sunday, including evenings and weekends, per the athletic schedule and school needs
• The Head Coach is required to attend all practices, competitions, and other events as determined by the Athletic Director
• Usually standing and moving; some lifting may be required
• May be required to work outdoors for extended periods of time, during periods of inclement weather
• Must be able to receive and impart detailed information through verbal and written communication
