Department of Resources Recycling & Recovery is Hiring a C. E. A. Near Sacramento, CA

Are you looking to help attract businesses and jobs to California while tackling climate change and achieving environmental milestones? Apply to lead the way to a circular economy and build CalRecycle’s new Office of Circular Economy.
In this role, the incumbent will collaborate with CalRecycle’s Executive team to stand up the Office of Circular Economy within CalRecycle. The Office of Circular Economy will develop policies and strategies, including, utilizing a combination of financial instruments, to facilitate new and expanded infrastructure in California for recycling and manufacturing with recycled material. The Deputy Director will direct and oversee a team of staff to strengthen and expand California’s circular economy. The incumbent will work directly with businesses, the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz), and other State Agencies and stakeholders to find and realize opportunities to develop and deploy new technologies in recycling and remanufacturing in California. The incumbent will foster and maintain relationships with industry business leaders and other stakeholders to guide the effective development of CalRecycle programs and meet our environmental, equity, and economic goals.
This position involves travel throughout the state approximately 20% of the time.
This position is eligible for hybrid telework and headquarters location within the state of California will be determined collaboratively with the selected candidate and Execuitve management.

Examination Information

The examination process will consist of a Supplemental Application (Statement of Qualifications). Applicants are required to respond to six items listed under the Statement of Qualifications. These supplemental items are designed to identify job achievement in specific areas that demonstrate the ability to successfully perform at the CEA B level. Responses to the supplemental items will be assessed based on pre-determined job-related rating criteria. In appraising the relative qualifications of candidates, consideration will be given to the extent and type of pertinent experience and education over and above that which is required under the minimum qualifications.

Each applicant for this examination must complete and submit his/her responses to all six supplemental items. Supplemental responses and applications must be electronically submitted, postmarked, personally delivered, or received via interoffice mail. APPLICATIONS RECEIVED WITHOUT RESPONSES TO THE SUPPLEMENTAL ITEMS WILL BE REJECTED.
When responding to the Statement of Qualifications, applicants must follow these guidelines:

  • Responses must be typewritten or generated by word processing on 8 1/2" x 11" paper, using no smaller than a 12 point font.
  • Responses to the six supplemental application items must be limited to a total of three pages, single-sided. Therefore, the supplemental application document must not exceed three pages.

Statement of Qualifications
