DELTAK Inc. is Hiring a Maintenance Coordinator Near Minneapolis, MN

Summary: Responsible to maintain mechanical equipment in a safe, operable condition and in coordination with the Facilities Manager to ensure structure of the plant, office, and grounds are in good repair and appearance.

Essential Functions:

  • Resolve mechanical issues referencing drawings, blueprints, and sketches as required; service or repair equipment for operable condition.
  • Install and align new equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment, machinery, building and grounds as required; maintain accurate, electronic records.
  • Track spare parts and requisitions in the maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Move or relocate manufacturing equipment.
  • Operate forklift, cranes, and other machinery as required for testing, inspection, or completion of a maintenance project.
  • Use a variety of small electrical, hand operated or power tools as required.
  • Assist in temperature control in the facility and repair or maintenance of related equipment.
  • Provide support in setup of office furniture or repair.
  • Work following safety requirements during maintenance operations that may require verifying and identifying energy control sources and performing Lock/Out Tag/Out procedures to ensure safety of self and others in work environment.

Technical Skills:

  • Excellent problem-resolution skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Must possess technical knowledge of mechanical or HVAC and electrical principles
  • Must possess planning, layout, carpentry, plumbing and electrical concepts to perform maintenance and repairs on buildings, equipment, machinery and grounds.
  • Read and interpret equipment drawings/blue prints and be accountable for conformance when performing maintenance on equipment.

  • Conduct self in a respectful and appropriate manner and to safely perform essential job tasks.
  • Reason and apply principles of logic to a wide range of factors when working on jobs.
  • Read and interpret complex drawings.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work in a heavy manufacturing environment requiring awkward stances and positions for periods of time throughout an 8 to 10 hour day.
  • Stand and walk for majority of 8 to 10 hour day, bend, climb ladders and scaffolding 10 to 25 feet above ground level, lift product, equipment and tools up to 50 pounds throughout the day; push or pull product up to 200 pounds on an infrequent basis (welding machines on wheels); use hand tools up to 20 pounds over extended periods of time.

Education: Completion of a two year technical degree with ability to read blueprints and drawings. Equivalent experience considered at discretion of management.

Experience: Minimum of five years of maintenance experience on equipment, machinery, and facilities in heavy industrial manufacturing environments.

Special Dimensions: Exposed to occupational and environmental risks part of a normal workday.

General Hazards:

  • Compressed gases can be potential hazards and workers must safely handle containers as instructed.
  • Confined space entry procedures must be followed whenever entries are necessary.
  • Proper operation of forklifts; use of seat belts when driving as rollover protection to move product between 5,000 to 25,000 pounds.
  • Proper use of scaffolding and ladders to reduce fall hazards.
  • Proper procedures must be followed for crane operation to lift product between 50,000 to 200,000 pounds.
  • Proper lifting techniques must be utilized to lift product; additional assistance required when lifting product in excess of 50 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment required:

  • Hearing Protection for level of noise;
  • Safety shoes for protection from falling loads and equipment;
  • Safety glasses and appropriate face protection to prevent exposure or harm from welding activity while performing essential functions in facility.
  • Gloves to protect skin against burns or other dangers in heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Respirators as required when ventilation is not adequate in the maintenance of equipment.
