Technical Sales Representative

Position Type/Hours:

Full-time, in-office position. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST.


Position Purpose:

The Technical Sales Representative will play a critical role in driving revenue growth by identifying new business opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and providing technical expertise to our customers.


Essential Functions:

Business Development:

  • Identify and prospect new business opportunities within the assigned territory or market segment.
  • Conduct market research to understand industry trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets and expand market presence.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key decision-makers and influencers at target accounts.

Technical Consultation:

  • Serve as the primary technical resource for customers, providing expert guidance on Delta ModTech's converting, packaging, and coating solutions.
  • Understand customer requirements and challenges and recommend appropriate solutions to address their needs.
  • Conduct product demonstrations, presentations, and technical seminars to showcase our capabilities and value proposition.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering and product development teams to customize solutions and address specific customer requirements.

Sales Support and Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the sales team to develop proposals, quotations, and contracts that align with customer expectations and company objectives.
  • Provide ongoing support to customers throughout the sales cycle, including product installation, training, and post-sales technical assistance.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of projects and timely resolution of customer issues.
  • Keep abreast of industry developments, emerging technologies, and competitor activities to maintain a competitive edge in the market.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and pipeline opportunities using CRM software.
  • Prepare regular reports and forecasts on sales performance, market trends, and customer feedback for management review.
  • Analyze sales data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and optimize sales strategies for maximum effectiveness.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, or related field; technical background preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in technical sales, preferably within the manufacturing or industrial automation industry.
  • Strong understanding of converting, packaging, and coating processes; familiarity with Delta ModTech's product portfolio is a plus.

Position Type, Work Environment & Travel

  • Full time, exempt – 40 hours per week minimum
  • Normal office environment
  • Travel – Outside the local area and overnight. Some travel is international. Normally 20%-40% and is variable based on needs but should not exceed 50%.


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee occasionally is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand for long periods of time while attending tradeshows. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
