We seek a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our team. The Maintenance Technician will ensure our school facilities' proper functioning, safety, and cleanliness. This position requires a proactive individual who can efficiently manage maintenance tasks, promptly respond to repair requests, and uphold our institution's high standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Basic literacy and reasoning skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Preferred two-year experience performing general maintenance
• Valid Georgia Driver’s License
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
• Physical fitness -Ability to lift materials and equipment weighing 70 pounds
• Background and Fingerprinting Required

JOB DESCRIPTION: GENERAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Maintains a pattern of prompt and regular attendance. Work hours: 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday; on-call 24 hours a day, seven (7) days per week.
• Demonstrates appropriate communication skills as applicable for the job.
• Maintains accurate records of all preventative maintenance performed.
• Acts professionally and maintains a professional attitude towards the public and colleagues; and exhibits good public/customer service fundamentals.
• Complies with system Cultural Diversity Guidelines in dealing with students, parents, co-workers, and the public.
• Complies with school, system, state, and federal regulations and policies, including the PSC Code of Ethics, HB250, and HB1321 related to job requirements.
• Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information and material; adheres to the chain of command.
• Maintains a professional appearance as appropriate for job responsibilities.
• Participates in appropriate training, workshops, and staff development activities; applies what is learned to the job; accepts new challenges professionally.
• Shows initiative and assumes responsibility for all aspects of job responsibilities; performs routine duties and tasks with little or no direct supervision.

• Plans, directs and completes all types of general maintenance, repairs, and installation projects.

• Demonstrates loyalty to the school system and administrators.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

JOB TASKS

• Will perform all locksmith, mason, glazer, carpenter, roofer, fencing, cabinetmaker, pest control, and welding duties.
• Will perform simple plumbing tasks.
• Will use appropriate safety precautions in all areas of job performance.

• PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Routine physical activities are associated with the duties of a maintenance technician. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, lifting students and equipment and repetitive fine motor activities. Ability to lift 70 pounds. Vision, hearing, and verbal communication are essential functions of this position.

The employee must perform each essential function satisfactorily. Employees are expected to attend all required meetings as approved by the supervisor. The employee will adhere to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission’s Code of Ethics for Educators and all Decatur County Board of Education policies, administrative regulations, school system procedures, social media platform procedures, and all other applicable professional performance criteria. Maintenance of criminal history checks is required for all employees.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24,738.00 - $54,000.00 per month
