Join the Marks lab in the Department of Systems Biology at Harvard Medical School as our new Associate Research Lab Director! This is an outstanding opportunity for a broadly trained computational biologist who is ambitious to expand their skills in project management and mentoring while working at the cutting edge of machine learning and genomics. This position works in partnership with the PI (Debora Marks) to lead several challenging and exciting projects at the interface of biology and machine learning. The position involves three major activities: making intellectual contributions to a wide range of lab projects, including participation in high-level steering committees for international projects; developing and disseminating key lab practices related to code development and effective collaboration; and serving as a scientific project manager for grant submissions and reports. The Associate Research Director will be a key intellectual partner and collaborator for many lab members, and recognized as an author on publications and patents whenever appropriate. The person in this position will become an increasingly visible leader within and outside the lab, gaining extensive experience in innovation and team-building relevant to future positions in both academia and industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
A PhD in a biology-related subject with a serious computational component is required. Scientific rigor, attention to detail, and demonstrated coding skills are essential. Strong communication skills, including writing, are important, and writing samples may be requested for finalist candidates. This is a high-energy and highly interactive position where excellent personal skills, including a sense of humor, are vital. Creativity and an ability to see the bigger picture are a great plus. Postdoctoral experience is preferred but not required.
