Reports to: Food & Beverage Manager; position is non-exempt

WHO YOU ARE

You are a Lead Barista that will prepare and serve creative and well-crafted coffee & tea-based beverages. Your responsibilities include curating our coffee & tea beverage menu, educating customers & associates on our deinks menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, upselling special items, and executing orders. To be successful in this role, you should first be a morning person with superb customer service skills, have a passion for caffeinating the public and have an insatiable curiosity for all things coffee from bean to brew.

THE ROLE

The Barista reports to the F&B Managers and works in a team environment with other F&B professionals, including barbacks, bartenders, servers, dishwashers, cooks, and chefs.

As a barista, you will be responsible for creating memorable guest experiences. You will be responsible for the timely and friendly delivery of food and drinks. In-depth menu knowledge is necessary to ensure safe service to guests with allergies and restrictions.

All of our service team members are expected to be reliable and responsible. You will arrive changed, polished and mentally ready to work on time. We put an emphasis on treating all of our team members just like we treat our guests- giving a smile, a helping hand, and a willingness to jump in to assist in any situation.

You will also actively develop trusting and transparent relationships with your peers on the service team and other associates of the hotel. As a team member within the Daxton Hotel, you will work with a phenomenal group of peers who insist that you are collaborative, humble, experienced, and open-minded – no egos are allowed.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Curate and fine tune coffee and tea-based drinks, update offerings seasonally
  • Welcome guests as they enter
  • Review drink menus and answer questions regarding ingredients
  • Take orders while paying attention to details(e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)
  • Prepare beverages following recipes and proper temperatures
  • Serve beverages and prepared food, like cookies, pastries, and other menu items offered
  • Receive and process payments (cash, credit cards, or room charge)
  • Keep the bar/work area clean at all times
  • Maintain stock of clean china/cups/glassware throughout the shift
  • Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
  • Comply with health and safety regulations
  • Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend menu items

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Continuous standing and walking and negotiating wet tile floor and steps
  • Previous work experience as a Barista preferred
  • Hands on experience with brewing equipment
  • Knowledge of sanitation regulations
  • Flexibility to work different shifts, and holidays
  • Ability to gauge customers’ preferences
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Continuous standing and walking and negotiating wet tile floor and steps
  • Standing and walking is continuous for 4-5 hours at a time
  • Lifting and carrying 30 lb. tray, crate or box is occasional
  • Ability to lift, balance and carry up to 25 lbs. to transport beverage goods inventory, equipment, etc.
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10*F) and kitchens ( 110*F)
