POSITION SUMMARY

A Dave’s Fresh Marketplace Deli Clerk is responsible for providing a high level of customer service and ensuring that safe food handling practices are maintained and adhered to. A Deli Clerk prepares and packages deli products according to customers’ orders. The Deli Clerk keeps all deli cases stocked and clean. This position ensures proper inventory control to maximize product freshness and availability, and answers questions from customers in a friendly and helpful manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

· Prior food service experience preferred, but not required

· Must be 18 years of age or older

· Must be comfortable with customer facing interactions

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

· Ensuring that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a friendly environment – includes greeting and acknowledging customers, smiling, making eye contact, and all other components of customer service

· Maintaining an awareness of all deli products on sale – I.E., Weekly Ad deli items

· Serves customers a variety of food products, including but not limited to cheese, meats, salads, and prepared food items

· Take customer orders with accuracy: both by phone and in-person

· Assists in putting together in-store pick-up catering orders

· Prepare sandwiches, salads, and other products according to Dave’s Fresh Marketplace recipes

· Operates a deli slicer, wrapping and cooking equipment

· Properly cuts, wraps, and weighs deli items

· Practice proper rotation and labeling of all products

· Cutting gloves must be worn on non-cutting hand while cutting any product. This policy is mandatory

· Maintaining all equipment in a safe working condition

· Keeps product stocked and rotated

· Observes temperatures within cooler and cases, records temperatures on the corresponding log, and reports failures to the Manager on Duty

· Assists Deli Manager as needed

· Notifies management of pricing discrepancies

· Awareness of food allergens; able to answer customer questions regarding food allergens

· Cleans and sanitizes work area – including tables, floors, walls, cases, coolers, counters, freezer, meat/cheese slicers, etc.

· Completes all logs as required

· Adherence to department-specific dress code policy

· Completes all cleaning tasks as required

· Strict adherence to all Food Safety & Sanitation practices

· Follows all safety practices and procedures

· Adhering to all Dave’s Fresh Marketplace policies, procedures, and practices including signing, pricing, and loss prevention

· Performing other duties as assigned

· Proper handling of equipment such as knives, cutting equipment, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, and hand trucks

· Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and stay organized

· Reliable and dependable; able to work a flexible schedule – including weekends

· Must be able to work a minimum of 3 shifts per week

· Ability to solve practical problems

· Ability to examine products for freshness

· Must be willing to participate in further job training – I.E., food safety training
