About this opportunity

The Global Vice President of Quality and Sustainability will report directly to the Senior VP of Global Operations. This position has responsibility for the overall management system designed to meet customer Quality and ESG (Environment Social Governance) requirements to enhance customer satisfaction while minimizing business risks and costs. The scope includes developing and executing strategies, processes, systems, and tools to achieve these goals, working cross functionally to influence and deliver quality and ESG improvements across the company.

A key requirement is the ability to drive change across the organization, and, in partnership with the rest of the Global Operations team, move the enterprise to the next level of customer satisfaction, quality, and ESG, incorporating practices already in place within certain parts of the organization and providing thought leadership to adapt new best practices.

What you will do (Responsibilities)

  • Develop and implement overall DZS Quality and ESG strategy and plans
  • Responsible for the overall management system certifications and strategy including ensuring certifications are maintained or extended as required, especially TL 9000 (including ISO 9001), ISO 14001 and support of others - ISO 27001 and ISO 22301
  • Working knowledge of emerging ESG trends and the ability to incorporate them into the business as needed
  • Leverage sustainability practices and associated assessment tools (e.g., Eco Vadis) and closing gaps to reduce operating costs while having a positive environmental impact including greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction
  • REACH, RoHS, FCPA, Conflict Mineral regulations and others (e.g., forced labor) and their compliance management with respect to DZS and supplier practices
  • In collaboration with the procurement organization, supplier quality management of key suppliers including issue resolution, RCA/8Ds and prevention.
  • Drive standardization of management system processes, policies and procedures across the company and ensuring awareness and adherence to them via comprehensive communication, training, and audit plans
  • Define appropriate KPI’s (such as Cost of Poor Quality, returns, delivery, GHG reduction targets) to measure performance, identify improvement opportunities and projects
  • Lead cross-functional mission-based teams to accomplish and continually improve outcomes of the all the above. Coach and train teams on disciplined problem-solving and improvement methods (Lean/Six Sigma, DMAIC, RCA etc.)
  • Support sales teams in responding to RFXs in the areas of quality, environment, sustainability, health, and safety
  • Build internal networks across Supply Chain, Engineering and Services teams to create a shared vision and collaborative partnership to achieve quality and ESG targets
  • Develop technical depth and credibility recognized by customers and industry organizations (e.g., TIA QuEST Forum). and manage these relationships

  • Strong analytical and modeling capabilities - able to summarize and communicate concisely both verbal and written to all levels of an organization internally and externally
  • Proven leadership skills with large cross-functional teams - proactive, team-player
  • Excellent organizational, people management and time management skills.
  • Ability to create and implement process improvements and enhance both reporting and business analytics that drive performance and operating efficiencies.
