Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is Hiring a Senior Director Executive Services & Business Development, International Patient Center Near Boston, MA

Overview

The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute welcomes adult cancer patients from over 100 countries across the globe each year. The Senior Director of Executive Services & Business Development, International Patient Center (IPC) will support international patient growth initiatives, improve relationships with referring providers and offices, expand brand recognition, improve access for high priority/high urgency patients, and increase awareness of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute clinical service and clinical research expertise within the international referrer community and among foreign government embassies and health ministries.

The role will report into the SVP, Business Strategy, and work closely with DFCI IPC leadership, DFCI faculty and administrative leadership. This individual will work closely with the DFCI executive team, senior directors, directors and clinical leaders to identify and implement growth opportunities and facilitate positive and cooperative business interactions with key stakeholders and potential partners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of strategies to expand international oncology referrals to Dana-Farber through engagement with key international referrers and collaboration with DFCI clinical and administrative leadership.
  • Strengthen and expand relationships with key embassy, referral offices and other referring entities.
  • Promote Dana-Farber clinical service lines, including clinical innovations, faculty expertise and clinical research across referrer community and with foreign government representatives.
  • Collaborate with clinical departments to organize educational conferences and events in Boston, D.C. and in key target markets, focused on promoting collaboration and highlighting Dana-Farber clinical and research expertise.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive schedule for meetings in D.C., GCC, LATAM, Caribbean and Asia focused on promoting Dana-Farber clinical services, DFCI faculty, and international patient growth.
  • Establish and nurture long-term collaboration and relationships with key referral entities.
  • Actively manage and foster relations with senior Embassy officials and medical offices with responsibility for patient referrals and health services. Engage Dana-Farber operations team in any discussions related to operational issues and / or direct patient referral queries.
  • Develop and own relationships with international government representatives and entities including hospitals, healthcare systems, and ministries of health for the purpose of developing patient referrals, clinical program collaborations, educational exchanges, and healthcare system consulting opportunities.
  • Organize international referrer leadership visits to DFCI.
  • Identify new prospective partnership opportunities, and work across Business Initiatives and Alliances to establish new contracts with international referral sources.
  • Conduct assessment and analysis of international referral market and present recommendations to DFCI senior leadership team.
  • Identify relevant international conferences for participation and identify speaking opportunities for DFCI faculty.
  • Lead the coordination of DFCI participation in international conferences, working with clinical leadership, marketing and communications teams and administrative leadership.
  • Maintain and expand international referrer contact list and ensure ongoing engagement with international referrers.
  • Lead development of newsletter and marketing materials highlighting DFCI clinical and research initiatives.
  • Advise operational leaders/team on patient prioritization for high priority/high urgency cases.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree, such as an MBA, MPH, MA, with a health care focus required.
  • 15 years’ work experience within a healthcare environment required.
  • Experience leading and developing institutional strategies, initiatives and extensive leadership guidance with multidisciplinary teams required.
  • Ability to speak Arabic and / or other languages preferred.

  • Self-motivated and organized with experience working in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Ability to work with other cultures, particularly in the Middle East.
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks; ability to handle uncertainty and ambiguity; flexible with changes in prioritization in a consensus decision-making environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to converse effectively and prepare written proposals, analyses and other documents in a manner readily understood by and crafted for the target audience.
  • Strong client orientation and interpersonal skills and ability to work with staff at all levels of the organization taking into consideration cultural differences.
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot and resolve issues while taking the appropriate steps, involving the appropriate parties.
  • Ability to work closely and effectively as a member of a team.
  • Skilled at working with large institutional datasets and using business intelligence data to drive and support decision-making.
