JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the prompt daily care, and maintenance of the physical property and equipment for the 66-acre Arboretum and Botanical Garden which includes two historic homes, administration building, exhibit hall, gift shop, restaurant, concession stands, food court and pavilion, ticket booths, parking garage, greenhouse, and a children’s garden with a learning center and educational exhibits. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Perform/schedule/track routine facility maintenance and repairs.
• Use various gauges, meters, and electrical testing equipment to check specifications.
• Identify and troubleshoot maintenance issues including mechanical, electrical, plumbing and facility structural.
• Create and Coordinate Preventative Maintenance schedules for Inspections, and Permitting on building systems, including fire suppression, burglar alarms, HVAC, plumbing, elevators, detention tanks, sump pumps, kitchen vent-a-hoods, generators, etc.
• Monitor HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire systems for efficiency and performance.
• Ensure the adherence to quality control and safety standards, and the Arboretum conduct code.
• Perform scheduled walk-throughs of garden facilities.
• Respond to emergency situations, i.e., weather, fire, power outages, plumbing, or electrical issues in an appropriate and timely manner.
• Maintain relationship with all departments to address issues involving work orders for maintenance issues.
• Schedule contractors and service providers as requested by senior facility manager and assist in oversight of work performed.
• Work with senior facility manager in budget preparation, and obtaining maintenance/supply bids for budgeting purposes; 
• Ensure timely process invoices with appropriate expense coding.
• As needed, function as Manager on Duty to respond to public/guest needs.

 EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• 4 years relevant experience, with 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
• Apprentice hours or background experience in mechanical, plumbing, and electrical repair is preferred.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills/ Office (excel, outlook).
• Flexible hours, including night/weekends.
• On-call availability to respond to emergencies.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Lift up to 30 pounds, climb, walk, bend, twist, and stand in all weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Additional Licensing is a plus: structural pest control, HVAC, back-flow prevention, OSHA, etc.
