Duties:
- Prepare and create a variety of sushi dishes according to established recipes and standards
- Ensure the quality and freshness of ingredients used in sushi preparation
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of sushi station and equipment
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate timing of sushi orders with other menu items
- Monitor inventory levels and place orders for sushi ingredients as needed
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines in the handling and preparation of sushi
- Stay updated on current food trends and incorporate new techniques and flavors into sushi offerings
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry
- Strong knowledge of sushi preparation techniques, including rolling, cutting, and presentation
- Familiarity with different types of fish and seafood used in sushi dishes
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent knife skills and ability to handle sharp objects safely
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper handling of raw fish
- Creativity and ability to develop new sushi roll combinations
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with kitchen staff
Please note that this position requires working in a fast-paced restaurant environment. The successful candidate must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift heavy objects, and work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
